hey
can u plz give me the contact details for tipps, prior and tomatec and also what years and subjects they specialise in...also who nos any tute for japanese and r they good?
thanx
I go to tipps... here are the details =D

Address : 114 Highland Ave. Yagoona NSW 2199
Phone #: 97938382

hmm... they also have an email but i duno how often they chek it
kobskii@tipps.com.au

they are VERY good for mathmatics if you are in a high class... yes the classes are ranked... in yr 11/12 evry1 wants kobskii because he is the best one they hav for those yrs and for the other yrs the best one is ricky... kobskii for yr 11 onli teaches 11A so u gotta work hard to get into his class and for ricky you gotta generally be in A or A2 (top 2 classes) the rest I don't no... but the other math tutors are also good.
English is pretti ok at tipps, it did help but not ALOT compared to how much maths helped (their maths is A-grade =d). im not sure about the tutors because all the ones ive had are good but I heard there is one bad one... you also need to be in a fairly high math class to get one of the good english teachers (except for 11/12 its random for these yrs)
Chemistry/Physics isnt very good... ive onli been to 2 lessons though and i dont reeli like the way they teach... they onli hav one chem/physics teacher

I personally recommend maths and english at tipps and not so much chem/physics

I just started having Kobskii for a few weeks now after changing classes from Ricky. I'm surprised to find that Kobskii isn't really that "excellent" as people say he is . I reckon Ricky was a way better teacher than kobksii. .. Does anyone else agree with me??:(

I dont think people go to tutoring for motivation...They are there because they are motivated enough to want to improve their results. I went to an english tutor who was a top HSC marker which was good because she knew what the markers were looking for.
Its called proffesional tutoring centre and its at Hurstville. They tutor maths and English.

Um i was wondering where is that place in hurstville do u have a contact number for the place thanxs and is it effective?

thanxs

Mr Gu? You mean the asian guy at Strathfield who has a phd is mathematics and teaches ext 2 math ?
Mr Gu is extremely good for maths, I used to go to him in yr9 and 10 but then I stopped going, which I kind of regret. He made me do an exam to see if he could tutor me, and got annoyed at me because I didn't turn up every week since I had things at school on -.- and told my mum! Probably, start going again next term for yr12, ext2 mathematics ><.

How is it? There are that many HSC markers out there that it would virtually cut out all school teachers from tutoring people. Its not like they are going to give you a secret recipe for success. The questions obviously change every year anyway. Its just nice to do a past exam question and have them say, 'well a lot of students lost marks here...and that part of the question was generally answered poorly etc'

how did u find a hsc marker as your tutor and would you recomend that person ?

No...I am in year twelve for tipps; A1 and i still think kobskii is the bomb! =) he teaches really good but not saying ricky doesn't, he teaches good too but don't underestimate kobskii; you just gotta understand him and his actual concern for his students and listen to him and then u realise how good he is; he helped me come like top 5 in school so blah =P

well let's assume that you've done your hsc so you actually know what you're talking about. your first argument is fallacious in that only one module (the comparative study of text and context - ie, brave new world/bladeruner etc) focuses chiefly on the effect of context on shaping texts and values.

secondly, you talk about 'truths' in your second point then go on to say that they're essentially discredited - surely 'essential truths' of any sort must have some amount of general aceptance. similarly, your reference to post structuralism should really be referring to postmodernist dogma, the questioing of ALL 'truths' (such as the ones you mention). now given the fact postmodernism can be read as being quite averse to strict sets of rubrics (like the one used by the board of studies for english) - and also given the fact that there is a whole extension unit devoted to postmodernism, then how can you possibly argue that there's no rrom for disgreement? disagreement with set notions and paradigms is the core of what the three unit engilsh course is about!
But postmodernism encourages arguments against anything but postmodernism itself..

If one adopts such philosphy to the full extent, then one should only deduct marks for grammar and spelling errors because they would have no reason to deduct marks for what they think is a bad argument.

Maths:
KMB at chatswood is very good- ask for Danny, he is the best for 3u or 4u maths as there isn't a problem he can't solve and he gives you extra resources in the form of examination style questions- costs $59 an hour, however, I would not recommend him if you cannot understand an asian accent.
You should buy the Success One books as well as the Pheonix book of practice questions 3u.

Chemistry:
I attended Northshore which cost 350 a term- the summaries were good and if you combined those with practice from the Success One Chemistry book you should be set to achieve a band six. There is no point signing up for expensive colleges like Prior if you still arn't prepared to put in the work- my friend was prepared to do so and she gave me one of the summary booklets from Prior (very concise and answered all the syllabus dot points)- she told me they have practice exams every other week and her marks dramatically increased after she started attending Prior.
Macquarie's Chemistry revision guide is good but Excel's is a joke.

I heard tomatec is really good, though the people i know that went there didnt do well in the end.

Prior is way to expensive, if you can get a hand on their notes, that would be enough already!

Has anyone heard of TIPS at Yagoona? Half of my friends went there. They all did super well-apart from the fact that they had to do a test to get into to the coaching college and they were mostly selctive school students....

For maths, I went to Terry Lee (Author of Advanced mathematics, 4unit) I thought he was a terrific tutor and he improved me by 10 marks in the HSC for ME1. I was very happy with that.
about tipps, it is mostly selective ppl but it doesnt make that much of a difference UNLESS its james ruse heck, i go to mount st joseph @ milperra!
