Powell endorses Obama.
Another nail in a very... well nailed coffin

Looks like it's going to come down to Florida. If McCain doesnt win it, there's no other road to the Whitehouse

Yeah, Trefoil, since the last debate it has struck me how presidential Obama appears in comparison to the increasingly strangelove-esque McCain. I'm pretty aware of the powers and limitations of the presidency, and it still disturbs me somewhat that we dont really know Obama well enough to understand how he makes a decision and on what evidence. From what i've seen, he gets bullied, appears defensive, uncertain etc, which suggests a weak presidency dominated by key advisors, Congress, foreign powers...

I think it's dangerous to run with the fairytale that Obama will fix absolutely everything wrong with your life, but it looks like he will be a breath of fresh air (albeit a slightly risky one, but less risky than McCain)

Had a freaky dream that McCain died last night. Thought it was real so got up and fired up the SMH and felt... empty.

Obama's associations are questionable. Terrorists, extreme socialists and on it goes.

Obama's tax policy is complete crap. Wealth redistribution, give me a BREAK.

Obama's experience is next to nil. Yet he still found time to write two memoirs. Remind you of anyone? Kevin Rudd, empty shell.

Obama is the Left-est person in the Senate. He has voted 'yes' or more left-wing Bills than any of his colleagues, ANY of them.

Obama is a fence-sitter, in Illanois he voted 'yes' and 'no' something like 9 times each and 'present' 97 times. Present is basically an abstention, meaning he has no view of his own.

Obama is a completely egocentric asshole. He handles any media outlet which doesn't support him with contempt... which luckily for him is very very few... Fox News and a few newspapers.

Obama's policy on climate change is ridiculous.

Obama's health policy is verging on fascist, dictating your health insurance rather than allowing you to choose it.

------------

Sorry, could someone clarify this for me, why is it that people are voting for Obama again? Oh that's right....... he embodies change.

Same Left-wingers who thought Kevin Rudd embodied change. Too many people see Obama as a magic-quick-fix to all of America's problems in the world. A breath of fresh air. A way to get America out of debt and win the war in Iraq honourably. Restore American heregomy in the world. Well my question out there to the 292 people who voted for the Democrats on this forum is, on what grounds do you believe this?

And here's another question, we see all these people on TV worrying that the election could be close because although Obama has a mighty lead in the polls, that white middle class Americans in fear of electing a black president could run to the voting stations at the last minute on November 4. Racist! Disgraceful! I hear you all call... but nothing of course is said about the black Americans who are voting for Obama. I haven't seen one interviewed on TV who is voting Republicans. So don't tell me about the racism of many white Americans, because I'll tell you about the racism of black Americans, because there are people in both groups who have voted for skin rather than experience. The latter though, I fear has been less tolerant of McCain... and so racism continues.

Calm down buddy. Take a deep breath, do some real research, and stop sniffing glue.

Youre not going to refer him to Obama's special site which refutes all bad things said about him in a totally impartial way?

It's pretty obvious that Obama is so amazing that no negative thing said about him can possibly have any substance to it

I forget the URL, since I've only visited it once. It was useful that time because, funnily enough, it was totally impartial - in the sense that it was fully referenced and conveyed the simple truth (that Obama isn't working for ACORN, but worked on a government selected team of lawyers to uphold voting rights on behalf of ACORN and the Department of Justice against the State of Illinois).

Anyway, even if I could be bothered refuting his wild claims, it wouldn't be worth it. It's clear he's blindly right-wing and completely opposed to such basics rights as universal healthcare. Hillary would be appalled.

Palin was stupid on SNL. Frozen with fear I think. Unlike other guests, she really didnt say anything or be funny. She needed to prove to young libs that she wasnt dumb and could be trusted to govern, but all she really did was dance a bit while they made fun of her.

I also liked the way Fey and SNL in general kept their integrity intact -none of that pathetic kowtowing and unsure apologizing. She clearly was not an imposing presence

I fear it too. And there's also the thought of him getting assasinated (although I actually prefer Biden).

I for one don't fear an Obama loss. In fact if I were American, I'd vote for it.

McCain isn't ideal, neither's Palin, but the Republicans are better qualified and less superficial.

The last 8 years have been enough to show that the Republicans aren't so qualified and the 8 years before that did show that the Democrats were.

Have you been paying attention to the Republican party lately at all?

To say Palin isn't ideal is an understatement. McCain isn't ideal; Palin is full-blown nutjob territory.

Colin Powell was correct years ago when he called the more conservative members of his party "fucking crazies". Well, these days those are the only people left running the party.
