Proposed changes to the Mathematics syllabus: Thoughts?

The old 4U syllabuses had vectors+matrices and their applications (e.g. rotations of coordinate systems and other transformations).

Proposed changes to the Mathematics syllabus: Thoughts?

They could generalise it to things other than speed (I don't know whether this is already done).

    HSC Chem

Pretty much, yeah. Note that in the HSC Chemistry exam, calculations only make up about 10-15% of the marks though.

Proposed changes to the Mathematics syllabus: Thoughts?

Average rates of change could easily be done without needing calculus (e.g. average speed etc.). Instantaneous rates of change would require calculus though.

100%. Or maybe closer to 80%.

Proposed changes to the Mathematics syllabus: Thoughts?

No more conics, DE's (differential equations) and difference equations coming in, as well as statistics / statistical inference. There might be some more, didn't read it too thoroughly. Edit, this was for 4U.

    $This is basically a derivation of the well-known formula $v^2 = u^2 + 2a\Delta s$ for \textsl{constant} $a$.$

    General Thoughts: Physics

$The formula $v^2 = u^2 + 2a\Delta s$, where $\Delta s$ is the change in position from the initial position at time $t$, applies for any 1-D motion with \emph{constant} acceleration $a$, where the initial velocity is $u$ and the velocity at time $t\geq 0$ is $v$.$

Constant (non-zero) acceleration in one direction and 0 acceleration in the perpendicular direction.

Carrotsticks' Solutions 2015 Extension 1 HSC

Nope lol (to the last sentence), you can download it and write up documents containing equations. Depending on your Operating System, there's different places to get it from. They're listed here: https://latex-project.org/ftp.html

Terry Lee's Solutions to the 2015 Extension 1 HSC

I think they rush to get their solutions out relatively quickly, so it is easy to make a silly mistake.
