Estimating your raw marks in HSC, low ranking schools and estimating your ATAR :D

Hey all. I finished my HSC in 2013 as some of you may know. I made a thread after finishing my exams called "ATAR bingo" which can be found here: http://community.boredofstudies.org/110/atar-hsc-marks-guidance-counsel-estimates/314989/atar-bingo.html Basically it is a thread explaining how a...

What car do you drive? (the new one)

Good car^. I have a 98 and it drinks heaps of petrol too. Probably takes 15 L per 100km max. Maybe minimum would be 11L per 100km.

Dropping Advanced English... is it to late?

It is all statistics really: Standard: http://www.boardofstudies.nsw.edu.au/ebos/static/BDHSC_2012_12_15130.html Advanced: http://www.boardofstudies.nsw.edu.au/ebos/static/BDHSC_2012_12_15140.html You can argue that not many people in standard try, however, going off these statistics less...

    Start-Up Scholarship 2014!!!???

Yeah true. By the time I start I will have quite a bit from it, more than enough for me.

    Apparently 1+2+3+... = -1/12

Yes I was thinking the same that it doesn't apply to maths completely, but rather to other stuff: However, I didn't think of it in regards to string theory. I thought of it in terms of digital format and it still somehow works.

    Apparently 1+2+3+... = -1/12

Actually just watched that video now and its more like what I said before in my first post here.

    Apparently 1+2+3+... = -1/12

Did you watch this one too Sy? EDIT: In the original video: Tony Padillia: "This might seem like mathematical hocus pocus, but we know its not because of Physics."

    Apparently 1+2+3+... = -1/12

Yeah like one of these (I'm so bad at explaining maths using English, but can understand English using maths): \sum \limits_{n=1}^{\infty} \left ( \frac{1}{2} \right ) ^{n} = 1

    Audio Notes

You can still pull out a book on the train or during frees if you have a bag with you. I've never tried audio notes so I wouldn't be best to ask.

any girls doing bachelor of Construction Management at uws

This guy is just as bad as Kitchen Sinky. Both have the most useless and innuendo filled posts.

    Apparently 1+2+3+... = -1/12

Is this concept similar to how you get infinite sums of things that tend to a definite number?
  13. anomalousdecay

    Apparently 1+2+3+... = -1/12

It depends really. I'm going to say the below in an electronic perspective and it may have nothing to do with maths. For example, quantum computers are based off qubits. Now, qubits are constantly on 1 and 0. So qubits are defined as being both at 1 and 0 at the same time. So this leads...

Dropping Advanced English... is it to late?

Do not drop. Aligning is so bad that even the state rankers usually get a 92-93. And only 0.5% of the standard cohort gets a Band 6 even.

    Start-Up Scholarship 2014!!!???

I don't think I will go for it even though I am eligible. I'm not going to take money then repay them back if I don't need it. YA is enough for me I think.

    Card games?

Haha yeah. Good memories. Do any of you remember when the yu-gi-oh came in the little metal plates and they would have a picture of a card's creature? Was pretty good too. They had them for beyblades, footy players and a few other things (though these were plastic). And you could only get...

    HSC Physics Marathon 2013-2015 Archive

    Re: HSC Physics Marathon 2014 a) Voltage drop is equal to the input voltage minus the back emf. Also, the voltage drop is equal to the required current to keep the motor running. $From the graph:$ \\ \\ $Voltage drop$ = IR \\ \\ $V_{drop}=(10 \ A)(5 \ \Omega) \\ \\ V_{drop} = 50 \ V...

    Card games?

A bit far. But then again, may as well just duel there. And whenever I need a new psp game I have to go to parra lol (They are a quarter of the price than on psn).

    Card games?

Basically, both cards are put down facing up. Then each person takes turn to flip the cards. The person who wins is the one that is able to get card facing upwards on top of another card facing downwards, and they keep both cards (it was a form of gambling I would say). The good times of...
