    General Thoughts: Physics

I did exactly that and the two answers were identical. Are you sure you did it right?

    Nice troll.

    General Thoughts: Mathematics Extension 1

I thought that was a really good paper. Although my thoughts may change once Carrotstick's solutions are up.

UNSW Coop 2014 + general questions

I've heard the same thing from my careers adviser, relatives involved in the co-op program already etc. With ranks, I am sure they take into consideration the level of competition at your school. Does anyone know what the competition is like for the engineering ones? Is it true that you work...

Yep typed the wrong thing. That's what I meant- couldn't remember the question entirely. Yeah my bad, should've re-read the question before explaining it.

Note the question is a tariff of $15 ABOVE the market price. So, at $25, the government earns nothing because the market is solely supplied by the domestic industry. At $20, the difference between the quantity supplied and the quantity demanded is 20. The value of the tariff is $10, so 10x20...

    General Thoughts: Economics

You can't really compare the two topics. Inflation will be done far better by the cohort than environment- because no one studies the environment topic. Seriously, forget about it. Go party. Your HSC is over and I'm jealous :(

Expansionary monetary policy = lower the cash rate. So, to lower the cash rate, the RBA BUYS CSGs back from commercial banks, hence depositing money into exchange settlement accounts and decreasing the demand of funds in the overnight money market. This decreases the cash rate. So if the RBA...

    General Thoughts: Economics

Eh, I think the quality of the environment essays won't be high. You'll do fine, just work on your next exam now :)

You've got the important bits there, so you should be looking at 15+.

    General Thoughts: Economics

I first outline the aims of environmental policy (reversing anthropocentric damage, resolving the tragedy of the commons, internalising the externality etc). Pretty much all the theory about why the environment needs to be protected went here. Then, I talked about the policy methods: - command...

I don't think they care whether you use a pen, pencil, crayon or blood; as long as you filled them in you're fine.

This is what I said as well, but it all comes down to which is the "best" answer. In hindsight, A is probably the better answer. Sounds like we wrote the same essay :)

You're not alone- I had filled in that answer but luckily I had time to check. And I know a lot of people in the same boat :((

    General Thoughts: Economics

Inflation was definitely an "easier" essay than the inequality one. I feel for the people who didn't study either the case study or environment... two things that could easily be overlooked.

Note it says *existing* airport. If you're building another airport, the number of jobs will likely decrease at the existing one. Decreased traffic is still a positive externality, whether it was intended or otherwise.

    General Thoughts: Economics

Most of the people I know did inflation + the case study.

    General Thoughts: Economics

I thought that was a pretty good exam. I made a few stupid mistakes in the multi choice (18/20) but otherwise it was fine. I ended up doing the labour/fiscal essay + environment. I suspect that's not a popular combo :(

    General Thoughts: Mathematics Extension 2

I got wrecked, probably something in the 70s. I thought the start was much harder than most of the past papers, and they skipped the classic giveaways like roots of unity, induction etc.

General Thoughts: English Advanced Paper 2

I suspect that while a detailed analysis of the extract would be rewarded, you'll be okay if your essay touched on the themes in the extract etc.
