Check the site of the university you wish to study at for information on how they choose international students. You should be able to use a law degree from the US to practice in Australia, however you may have to do some additional study here before being licensed.

I don't know if the government would take it into consideration. In fact, the only real field in Australia where university prestige seems to matter is Law.

I got 172 (96.8th percentile) so I am pretty happy. STAT is used for admission to some universities for non-recent school leavers, or for additional selection criteria for certain courses (like Bachelor of Pharmacy at the University of Sydney).

Re: Stat What exactly was "ew" about the above? The test wasn't really too long. I finished about half an hour early, and many others finished before me. There is plenty of time to answer all of the questions and check your answers.
