You should appreciate the fact that you go to tutoring, and that it probably isn't off your money :)

Do you make notes for Maths?

Rote-learning in maths refers to a more broader time scale where you are just blindly following instructions (i.e. to do these types of questions first you divide the left by x and then times by y, etc). You have no knowledge of the content but rather a series of steps.

Dw I'm averaging less than 60% for my tutor tests in math (due to cbb syndrome :L). Will definitely try to raise it to 90+ next term though.

    Bearing Help- Maths

Oh I thought you were in year 10 :L For bearings, it is important to have a good sense of placement when interpreting the question. It's best just to draw it out as you go along the question. I'll do a step-by-step process on how to do question two. This should be applicable to any question once...

    Bearing Help- Maths

These are pretty simple bearings questions. If you can't do those I think you need to re-learn bearings and trigonometry, not much that I can help with (providing answers isn't useful in this scenario). Anyway for the first question: 1. Plot Emilie's original point. 2. Construct a line N 56 W to...

    Prelim. marathon?

Yep I got the same. Can achieve answer using simple algebra manipulation. Here. A certain substance doubles its volume every minute. At 9:00am a small amount is placed in a container and at 10:00am the container just fills. What is the time at which the container was one quarter full?

    Math help

If three non-zero real numbers, a, b, and c are found such that: root(a+b) + root(b+c) = root(c +a) a. Explain why b must be negative I can't seem to figure it out. I had the answer a while back when I did it a few months ago but I guess that just means I didn't fully grasp it.

    Prelim. marathon?

^ Imposterrrrrr! Edit: Yep I got 5/7 too. Find the point of intersection between the two lines y = x and y = -2x/5 + 4. And you can work it out from there by comparing areas ^^ These are pretty fun I have to admit.

    Prelim. marathon?

Haha cool. My first tackle at it I tried to do something with surd identities (if a + brootc = x + yrootz, then a = x, b = y, c = z). But I forgot how that works so I just went with long way :L Probably wouldn't have worked out anyway.

    Prelim. marathon?

    Hm.. I got 6root3 units^2. Here's my working out (Please point out any mistakes! I'm unsure about the final part where I say 2ab = "): a + b + root(a^2 + b^2) = 6 + 6root3 (equation one) a^2 + b^2 + (a^2 + b^2) = 96 which simplifies to a^2 + b^2 = 48 (equation two) Subbing two into one, a + b...

    Math help

Okay so the question is basically saying this. I'll try to keep this as simple as possible. There are 3 regions, each with a different function/graph style to it. The critical points are -2, and 3. (You can determine this by looking at the domain conditions on the right. At these points the...
