    Tutoring Tips?

I'm currently tutoring both 2U/3U maths and I have two different approaches. For 2U maths - I feel planning lessons doesn't seem necessary, so often I'll just 'teach as we go along'. Basically my student will tell me what topic she feels she wants to be tutored. I then explain it to her from...

Transferring from UNSW Comm to UTS Law

This doesn't answer my question, but I'm curious, did you try transferring to UNSW Law? I know that for a guaranteed entry you needed a UAI of 96+, but I was wondering if you could still cut it with a UAI over 90?

    State ranks?

That sounds pretty bullshit - getting a state ranking with a mark of 94. For Business Studies - past trends indicate you should be looking at a 97/98 overall mark if you want a state rank.

A lot of the integration required for volumes is quite easy and generally only needs 3U integration.

    General maths.

What I'm saying is that I see no logic in doing general maths. You said some people do general maths because a large number of courses require some mathematical ability. What I'm saying is, if you do general maths in high school and do crap (or even average) - you'll be screwed over anyway and...

    General maths.

But the thing is, doing a subject for the sake of learning the skills for tertiary education is pointless if you're going to do poorly in that subject. Doing poorly in General Maths will really hurt your ATAR and even if it is only a spare unit, think of all the time you could have spent on your...

    General maths.

I'm pretty sure there is no course which requires General Mathematics as a pre-requisite. Better off not doing maths at all in the HSC and pick up a bridging course later on in my opinion.

Are my subjects for yr 11 crap? :(

Although I agree he does sound a bit like a wanker through the way he phrased it, I think he has a bit of a point. If a student finds general maths difficult, he or she shouldn't do maths in my opinion - because they'd probably benefit more from just doing another subject (remember peeps...

Which books do you reckon have the best solutions for sciences papers?

Success One is the most detailed. Couchman is pretty good and more student-like responses.

    Truongs Maths Tutoring, any comments?

Re: Truong's tutoring, any comments? It's the drilling that makes sir different to other tutors - you'll find out on your last lesson why he does it. He actually does go a LOT faster than school.
