    HSC 2009 Multiple Choice Q

Is the answer B? EDIT: Checked it's B. So basically whenever the question mentions something about the acid being monoprotic etc, you assume that the acid fully ionises. So you know: n[NaOH] = c.v = (0.550) x (0.02950) ≈ 0.0162 mol So assuming full ionisation: n[citric acid] = (n[NaOH]) / 3...

    half equations

How so? The spectator ions don't interact with the reactants or products in terms of electron transfer - that's why they're ignored in the net ionic equation.

    half equations

It's to determine the movement of electrons - it'll come up a lot next year for you so get accustomed to it ;D

    UNSW 3 hour maths exam

Haha that's the Westpac. ;P There's a different one where you have to provide answers with full working out from UNSW.

    10 or 12?

Or, you could man up and take 12. Jokes :P Do whatever you feel more comfortable with - if you want to concentrate on your 10 best units that you're absolutely sure you'll do well in.. go and do that.

    UNSW 3 hour maths exam

It's called the UNSW Mathematics Competition. Very original name haha The questions they ask you are outside the BoS syllabus for maths and they can potentially be very hard. You have to think laterally and carefully - marks are awarded for your method, not attaining the answer.

    ATAR Estimate

What's your aggregate like? Looks like 98-99 to me, just make sure those sciences cover your other two units well.

    Math decision/dilemma

Just pick it up and drop it if it gets too much for you later in the year. It helps for MX1 as well because some of the methods you learn are very useful in the MX1 exam.

    Ph probe help

It's because buffer solutions contain a (weak) acid/base conjugate pair solution that effectively neutralises any acid or base left on the probe.

    acid/base conjugates

Essentially an acid/base conjugate pair has a difference of one proton (an H) between them. The donor is the one with one more proton than the other, and so is the acid. The other is the base as it accepts it.

    ATAR of 90+ possible ?

He meant your school's rank, not your aggregate rank
