Significance of good grades in gaining employment?

And let me just say that to get an interview nowdays at a big4, I am afraid that good grade and possibly a law degree is a prerequisite, because recently I was at a vacation interview for KPMG, and the three people I met: two were 4th yr com/law (Usyd, UTS) and the third was crazy BCom guy at...

Significance of good grades in gaining employment?

let's hope you are right about the CA Achiever, though i question its long term significance, i only did two weeks, so seriously I ain't got that significant of an advantage over everyone else. From my experiences, I believe that the people who end up at the big 4 tend to possess similar traits...

    EY vs KPMG

I worked at KPMG in the summer and we had another vacationer who also is in the same position as you. He went to EY for like 4 weeks and then came to KPMG... and he has decided to stay. He says that the work environment at KPMG seems more relaxed and the people are more geniune, though i cannot...

    Contract: Counter-offer situation

Re: counter offers My understanding of this is that the original offer is effectively rejected when a counter offer is made (RA Brierley Investments Ltd v Landmark Corp Ltd). So in this case by jill inserting a new condition in the contract(ie. the holiday), they have only reached quid quo...

    FINS major VS ACCT major

I question your point in the sense that if the firm is paying the exact same amount of salary, wouldn't they rather a candidate with a law degree. I believe that on the inside there must be favouritism for law graduates though i agree with you that it is a waste of time to study law if...

    FINS major VS ACCT major

There is no point doing a com/law degree if all you want is CA/CPA qualification. I want to get into taxation law and hopefully i am doing the right course (com (acct)/ law UNSW). Dunno if i actually have to get CA accreditation to become a tax lawyer, but working in-house is fine with me also...

    Anyone lost at ACCT1501?

I absolutely agree with Minai. Everyone must forget the common use of the terminology debit & credit. It will make more sense when you have to reconcile accounts at the end of the financial year. DEBIT always increase in ASSETS, CREDIT always increase in LIABILITIES. Just relate to the formula...
