The 2004 HSC - Physics Paper

So the fact that solar cells were removed from the syllabus 2 years ago, and they asked a question on solar cells is not a problem? Now I'm no genius, but I would assume that if they remove something from the syllabus, then they aren't going to ask questions on it in the HSC exam.

The 2004 HSC - Physics Paper

Some people didn't have that existing knowledge due to it's removal from the syllabus though.

lol, at least you'll get the marker's attention.

Lol... I was wondering whos pic it was. I've seen it around a bit. I got it off a friend of a friend of a friend a few weeks ago, I set it as my avatar then a few days later it started popping up everywhere.

Hell yeah! I reckon I got low-mid 80's maybe. That should align to a band 6 :) What a great way to finish off the HSC. P.S. I'm not trying to make anyone who didn't think they went very well feel bad, I'm just happy it's all over.

    That gay multiple choice question

it was undisputed at our school that the answer was C.

    That gay multiple choice question

I'd be prepared to bet money the answer was C. Induction motors, based on eddy currents induced, conservation of momentum must apply so the motor spins. In electromagnetic braking eddy currents induced in the wheel slow it down. It uses eddy currents and conservation of momentum the same way...

    Too easy?

    Oh hell yeah...

    Multi choice Question 1...lame..

Both balls aren't necessarily projected from a different angle, it is just that the horizontal component of the second throw is greater than that of the first, so it has a longer range.

    Multi choice Question 1...lame..

I'd be willing to bet any amount of money that the answer is B.

    Multi choice Question 1...lame..

Remember velocity is a vector, meaning that if you change the direction you are in fact changing the velocity.
  15. BillyMak

    Multi choice Question 1...lame..

The answer is most definately B. Time of flight is not changed, since it reaches the same max. vertical displacement. Vertically, the initial velocity is the same, but horizontally, the velocity is increased in the second throw, meaning that the initial velocity is changed.

Someone in my year talked about shoes with air pumps :)

    projectile question

Not sure you would get 4 marks for that.... You used an equation that wasn't in the syllabus, and if a marker saw that I doubt that they would say that you did all of the working required. But then again, I'm not a marker.

    Identify problems with experiment question...

Yup, meaning the coil had a north and a south pole.

    Identify problems with experiment question...

The magnets weren't wrong. Both only had a north pole indicated on them, but they were both pointing in the same direction, so the magnet on the left had a south pole pointed at the coil while the magnet on the right had a north pole pointed at the coil.

    Solar Cell Q

That was the question I had the most trouble with out of the exam, I'd be lucky to get 2 or 3 / 6 for it....
