    Type 1 and 2 superconductors

Absolutely. In other words, HSC physics is just words without real physics. If they had taught that at school, there would be little reason to teach it again in first year physics. But unfortunately, they decide to forgo real physics and substitute it with essays and history lessons, so when...

    Type 1 and 2 superconductors

There is a more technical explanation as to what constitutes a type I and type II superconductor. They are immediately characterisable by their magnetisation in response to applied fields. For a type I superconductor, magnetisation is linear in response to applied fields, and then is abruptly...

    What are you currently Reading?

Hehe, I just finished that. I'm now on "The Runaway Jury" (another Grisham book). It's a funny in-a-comical-way book.

Who is to blame for the coup in Honduras?

I'm more inclined to believe that most of the facts about the legitimacy of the coup are wrong. The coup is most definitely a coup - there has been bloodshed and basic civil liberties have been denied. There is no justification for it. The main difference this time is that, for the first time in...

    Favourite Harry Potter Book

    1. Goblet of Fire 2. Prisoner of Azkaban 3. Order of the Phoenix 4. Chamber of Secrets 5. The philosopher's stone 6. Half-blood Prince Book 6 seemed below par for me, maybe my opinion of it will change when book 7 is released though. Goblet of fire was easily my favourite

    Galvanic Cells Prac

Who says the voltage does not change? The voltage of a cell changes with varying concentrations of electrolytes. The amount by which it changes is given by the Nernst equation, E(cell) = E(cell, standard conditions) - RT/nF * lnQ where R is the gas constant, T is temperature in kelvin, n is the...

    Combustion of petroleum

Enthalpy is measured in kJ/mol and is negative for exothermic reactions. It is basically a measurement of the change in internal energy of a system, delta E, when volume change is negligable in a reaction. You need to be aware that negative delta H does not mean that the reaction is spontaneous...

    Centripetal Force

http://www.physclips.unsw.edu.au/ Look at the bit on circular motion. In answer to your question, you need to understand a bit of calculus to realise why instantenous acceleration is directed towards the centre. Acceleration is defined as the derivative of velocity with respect to time. If you...

    MATH1231/1241 Exam

I found that the 1231 paper wasn't too difficult, it was just a bit long. The numbers in a lot of the questions were not 'nice' so I ended up having to check my work many times, so I wasted time and only just managed to finish.

Help! - Molar heat combustion of ethanol

Actually if you lose 50% to the external environment then only 50% of the energy from combustion was used to heat the water. Hence the actual heat of combustion is double the one calculated.
