A few months 2 go, what should I be studying

Don't study 24/7, it will not be of any use. Study as much as you feel u need to, until you feel confident that you know the subject material. If you are not able to recall concepts then you are not studying enough, but otherwise do as much as you feel the need to. Also vary your study and dont...

Anything out of the ordinary happen?

That may be an over reaction to last year, when our half yearly IPT exam had the MC and then 3 questions (the hsc has 4), so it was meant to be a 2 and a half hour paper although we only got 2 hours to do it. Cause we all complained, they must have given this year extra time :D

    Black Body Radiation

Cathode Ray Tubes - evacuated (i.e., removed of almost all air) glass tubes which contain two electrodes, a cathode (negative) and an anode (positive). When a significantly large potential is applied across these two electrodes, a stream of electrons flows from the cathode to the anode. It was...

Yeah I know, lol was just posting it out of interest more than anything else.

    x = y + e^y ?

Maple gives this answer: [see image] Lambert's W function is the inverse of the function wew where w is a complex number. (btw, I don't understand any of this - just putting it into the computer and giving you the result ;) ) http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lambertw

    Dropped from 2U?

I strongly urge people NOT to drop from 2 unit if they intend to do a science/enginnering degree at university. You may think that 2 unit is too hard or that general maths is a bludge and hence will ease your workload, but come uni time, you will really struggle, because in most uni maths...

    Quick help required plz

Bah sorry, I read the question wrong. My mistake :p
  12. rama_v

Boy, was that a waste of time...

If you do a science course in uni that requires any chem then make sure you understand the concepts very well, as it makes it much easier when you get to uni. Don't rote learn anything that you will need in later studies :)

    Trig simplifying

Just learn the first six on the list that pluvia has given you and then learn to derive the rest of the results. Its not too hard if you keep doing trig questions :)

    Exponential function question

You probably will encounter it later then in any case... It pops up every now and then

The Official "ive f*cked my HSC already" thread.

Re: The Official "ive fucked my HSC already" thread. Killing of you brain cells in the year you need them most ain't good advice. Drink water and stay healthy :D

    crash and burn

You should ask this question in the "UAI/HSC Marks (Guidance and Counsel)" section of the forum. In short the answer to your question is that you can still achieve a high UAI if you work very hard for the rest of the year.

    Physics Skills Prac

Errors is not really a big part in the HSC course. I suppose they could ask it theoretically but finding and computing anything other than the most simple measurement errors can be extremely complex and involves statistical theory. It's what we have to do in uni in our physics labs. For example...

    Melting point

Bromine is a liquid at room temperature, so it has a low melting point. (d) and (e) are metals so that rules them out, and Sulfur is a solid at room temperature . So the answer is either (a) or (b). But since Kr is a noble gas (i.e. a gas at room temp) then it must have the lowest melting point...
