I switched preferences after main round, put UNSW med first and got in late-round. I think that only a select few get in second-round. The main time you can get into UNSW medicine after the main round is the late-round. Edit: most of the late-round offers I know of were csp non-bonded.

Well, I'd personally stick to advanced science - from what I gather from others who have chosen the specialist MBLG stream, you get extra projects, extra seminars, the degree is naturally less flexible and most of the MBLG ppl so far, at least, haven't really enjoyed the first year MBLG course...

Not sure about the course itself, but as far as textbooks go, Silberberg and Zumdahl are very similar and for a general chemistry course, are pretty much interchangeable. Silberberg is probably pitched at a higher level of undergraduate student compared to Zumdahl and goes into a little bit more...
