Are you guys proud/ ashamed of studying at UWS?

cbf'd reading the rest of this thread...but have you actually been there? And i will agree that in first semester you'll occasionally see the odd drop kick here and there, but they realise they can't cut it before census date =D

Are you guys proud/ ashamed of studying at UWS?

Well my course in 2008 had a cut-off of 82 (or close to it). Usyd was 76, Mcq was roughly 77 and UNSW was higher 80's. So i dunno, maybe all the shit students went to USyd? :p

Are you guys proud/ ashamed of studying at UWS?

The staff in the dept. of Computing and Maths who teach computer science units have had 10, 20, 30 and a few even 40 years of experience at USyd, UNSW and UTS. From what they've said, they've taken the program taught at their previous Uni's and implemented it at UWS. I can only assume there are...

    Gpa 5.5?

Yes, as long as it averages out, you're fine. A GPA of 5.5 is basically half way between a credit and distinction average.

    Bridging course for ICT

I did an optional bridging course for Computer Science in early 2008. For ICT i'm sure general maths would be fine. As for the online test perhaps ring the Uni to find out more? Often, the maths skills tests just allow you to skip a unit if you pass. Wheras if you fail you may have to do a make...

Could be both. I've had 'Invalid' appear a couple of times over two years because pre-reqs hadn't been updated. Hope results are good for everyone!

call of duty: modern warfare 2 [video]

User hosted games. No dedicated servers...yeah it was always going to be awful on PC. Lol check out the IW forums (PC section), it's just a massive flaming on IW for messing it all up.

I think he means the Xbox/Xbox Live is watered down PC/PC multiplayer.

I've heard PC multiplayer is broken. Did anyone actually bother buying it on PC?

Which IT Degree(s) should I apply to, & at which University?

UWS forensics major offers Information Security, Network Security, Computer Security amongst others, which sounds related to what you're after. I have friends who have done those units and they say they're a good starting point for IT security (both theoretical and practical sides).

    Options for further Study?

Last time i checked, UWS had quite a high cutoff for Computer Science and related courses, in comparison to a lot of the other Unis. When i got in, UWS had a cutoff of 81.25 i believe, while USyd was only 76. So yeah, don't just think you can stroll into any course at UWS or any other Uni. Just...

[Poll] - Should I learn how to program before starting Uni?

I would recommend reading texts about programming languages and paradigms. If you want to go further, learning basic C/C++ can't hurt if you take it pretty easily. It would help quite a lot if you were to do any first semester programming units.
