New SMH Article: Changes to English/SOR leaving students vulnerable

Well, you do have to be able to prove it.

New SMH Article: Changes to English/SOR leaving students vulnerable

Reminds me of what my Physics teacher said. A few years ago they decided to ask how a cyclotron works (in 2006 IIRC). My Physics teacher didn't think that it was in the course, and I think he was right in saying so because there is no dotpoint that states "Explain how a cyclotron and linear...

... When did I do this before?

New SMH Article: Changes to English/SOR leaving students vulnerable

Indeed they are more or less the same. Okay, there may be a subtle difference. But the difference is so insignificant that it's like weighing yourself and then cutting off your eyebrow and weighing yourself again. Excuse me? But do you know who I am, or are you in a position to be commenting...

Perhaps what I should've said that a=a^3 is not necessarily correct. BTW parts (i) and (ii) are correct.

New SMH Article: Changes to English/SOR leaving students vulnerable

There you have it, you've stated exactly what I am complaining about and the unfairness of the course. And yes I do have evidence, there's this thing called Facebook for instance, and these people tend to write in it, which proves alot of things. Uhh.. I think you can. And what direct evidence...

New SMH Article: Changes to English/SOR leaving students vulnerable

Did you read what I said before? Doing HSC English will not help me become a better communicator. How do you then explain the numerous amount of top students in the course that make vital grammatical errors? To me that isn't very good communication, in fact it adds to the idea that it is...

New SMH Article: Changes to English/SOR leaving students vulnerable

And where exactly would you use that in life? Also explain why most high positions (eg. CEOs) are filled by people with science backgrounds? Why aren't they filled by people who have background in studying literature?

New SMH Article: Changes to English/SOR leaving students vulnerable

You do realise that before the 2001 English wasn't a compulsory subject (in the sense of calculation of the formally known TER). That is BS. How the hell does English give you analytical skills? Problem solving in maths on the other hand would give you more of such skills.

New SMH Article: Changes to English/SOR leaving students vulnerable

No, Maths itself was never compulsory. However, one subject in the KLA (or w/e it was called) was compulsory, ie. Maths or the sciences (ie. Bio, Chem or Physics).

New SMH Article: Changes to English/SOR leaving students vulnerable

Yeah but English is a compulsory subject. I'm sure that many people, if they had the choice not to, wouldn't do it. So it's a fair call in my opinion that they would be complaining about the exam. SOR on the other hand is another story. I think it'd be fairer if they made at least 2U maths...

Do you lose marks for having 2 related texts?

Re: Called up Board of Studies regarding 2 related texts Uhh, you do realise that about 1/3 of the marking centre's time each year is spent going through student responses and then making marking guidelines right? So they'd have the 'briefing' regardless of how students misread the question...

Do you lose marks for having 2 related texts?

Re: Called up Board of Studies regarding 2 related texts Basically, unless an extremely high percentage of the state used 2 related texts then at the marking centre they will adopt marking guidelines that specifically only instruct markers to mark one related text. This has been the case in...

Do you lose marks for having 2 related texts?

Re: Called up Board of Studies regarding 2 related texts Apparently one of the supervisors during James Ruse's exam read out the exam question for the Belonging essay including the "one related text" bit and I'm not joking.

Do you lose marks for having 2 related texts?

Re: Called up Board of Studies regarding 2 related texts They will ignore the 2nd related text. This has been the case in the past.

Mathematics Extension 1 Marathon HSC 09

Line 1. The fact that a=a^3 is not correct, where a is a real number (except for a=1). You should write that (-1) = ((-1)^(1/3))(3) instead. Also with Line 3. You need to take the square root first. New Question: Two children play a game which involves throwing a fair die once each. A win...

Extension 2 Mathematics - How much time needed?

lol, we had 12 periods of Ext 2 and 4 periods Ext 1 a cycle. Partly due to a lazy HoD that didn't want to teach Ext 2 haha. So that's like 5 hours of Ext 2 a week and like 1.7 hours of Ext 1 a week. It's supposed to be 8 periods of Ext 2 and 8 periods of Ext 1 normally (ie. every other year...

    Yeats' poetry, how many poems?

They have in the past, which proved to be quite a seperator.
