    Black Body Cavity

How and why do the walls get hotter when a black body reached its thermal equilibrium? Also, how do atoms of a black body really absorb and emit radiation? I know that it works like a radio antenna, but what are the things that are oscillating? Nucleus or electrons or both or what?

    Hsc Marathon 2009 - Chemistry

Well, dissociation, strictly speaking, only applies to ionic solids. When HCl is dissolved in water, it ionises rather than dissociates since it's HCl is originally molecular.

    Hsc Marathon 2009 - Chemistry

Just some correction. Replace the highlighted word with 'ionise in water' and the underlined part with 'solution.' Answer to Q: An alkanol has a hydroxyl group (OH) while an alkanoic acid has carboxyl group (COOH). Both of them contribute to strong hydrogen bonding, yet that of COOH groups is...

    Namu has a Question

Hmm then do you have sets of rules that you memorise for tackling probability questions? I tend to do these questions just by inspection, except for very basic ones like arrangement in a circle is (n-1)!

    Namu has a Question

I put 1/4 because if I have 1 right in 3 Q attempted and have one more correct one, in my arrangement, the additional correct attempt can be placed in any of the places labelled x in: x @ x @ x @ x where @ stands for previous attempts. But I want the x to be the last one. Hence 1/4 Correct me...

    Namu has a Question

    I know that i am bad at probability but is it 1/27? What I did: 3C1(1/3)(2/3)^2 x (1/3) x (1/4)

    Multiple choice confusion

Answer: (B) At X, the direction of motion is perpendicular to the magnetic field. Rate of change in magnetic field is at its greatest. Hence this is the answer. Explanation for other choices: (A), (C) At W or Y, the direction of motion is parallel to magnetic field. Rate of change in...

    Hsc Marathon 2009 - Chemistry

Depending on the number of marks allocated, you will most probably not get a full mark. You did not explain why the light is absorbed and why does it have to be absorbed for AAS to work? And what is a calibration curve (I know, but you didn't say)? Hence maybe 1 mark or if tough, 2 marks...

lets see how impossble it is to estimate my ATAR

I don't think you got my point if you were criticising me.

lets see how impossble it is to estimate my ATAR

Well yea, I'm assuming that his assessments are of similar difficulty as the HSC and that his past performance indicates his future performance. That's the closest estimation I can do without additional data.

lets see how impossble it is to estimate my ATAR

I know but do you have any better method of estimating ATAR than that? And btw, Einstein calculator scales the marks for you, assuming that you put your HSC marks.

    Chem Mon M/C questions

The Australian government strongly disagrees. (B) would be the most consistent with their information.

lets see how impossble it is to estimate my ATAR

Einstein calculator gives exactly 90.00 UAI which =90.80 ATAR using UAC's conversion table

is it a good idea to take up ESL?

ESL should be an easy band 6 subject, given that you are coping well in adv and ext. If you are doing well in them anyway, just keep ext 1 in yr 12.

How easy is the secondary education without tuition centers?

Definitely possible, although tuition would indeed help to boost your performance up if you are dedicated.

    Helpp!!!

Your units for n(HCl) and n(NaOH) shouldn't be mol. And 2*10^-3mol/L is correct, not mol/mL.
  18. study-freak

    Helpp!!!

It does matter because your units are incorrect then. (not the answer but in your working)
  19. study-freak

    Helpp!!!

    Wrong working although the answer is correct. n(HCl) = c * v = 0.08 * 0.02 = 0.0016mol n(NaOH) = c * v = 0.05 * 0.03 = 0.0015mol Therefore HCl is in excess by 0.0001mol. (and hence H3O+ (or H+) ions by the same amount since HCl(aq) + NaOH(aq) -> H2O(l) + NaCl(aq) and HCl(aq) + H2O(l)...
