    Mark my Biology Please!

So, I've been doing lots of biology lately and I need some help marking my longer responses so I can see where I am, and how I can improve. These are mainly the 5-8 markers!I would appreciate if anybody could mark them (harshly) for me and tell me what I could do better! Thanks! 2006 HSC...

You think they will ask for 2 related texts for belonging essay or module C?

I think they've kinda realised that it is difficult to produce a sound, sophisticated & in-depth response on three texts, whilst also addressing the question, within 40mins.

Best way to tackle upcoming english exam

I use mnemonics! The more obscure/rude/weird it is, the more likely you are to remember. So far I have no trouble remembering the basic points of my essays, which adds up to about 500 words that are very summarised. This gives me lots of freedom and time to devote to answering the question...

    Annoying Multiple Choice!

That would be awesome if you could send it to me! SFBH is like my worst

    Annoying Multiple Choice!

I think I'll make a boss table. There was also an 8 mark question on distinguishing pathogens in the CSSA trial this year! That screwed lots of people over, including me. I shall learn my lesson.

    Annoying Multiple Choice!

It's okay, I got dis. On a more serious note, thanks for the explanations! Cleared up a lot of stuff. Also means I have to study what distinguishes pathogens in greater detail.

    Predictions for Genetics?

I use the trp-operon for gene expression. I suppose it doesn't exactly matter as long as you know one in detail. Or should you know both?

    Annoying Multiple Choice!

So, you're saying that B is correct when considering that neither viruses or prions contain DNA? However, in relation to this question, they are the only pathogens that don't contain nucleic acids, meaning that C is correct?

    Annoying Multiple Choice!

From the 2010 HSC Biology exam, Question 17. What feature of prions distinguishes them from all other types of pathogens? a) Prions are not cells. b) Prions do not contain DNA c) Prions do not contain nucleic acids d) Prions cannot reproduce outside a host cell. I chose B. The 2010 HSC...

Completely undecided on degrees/future, please help!

Re: Completely undecided, please help! Would there really be no options within Australia?

    Predictions for Genetics?

I had to read that quite a few times... I just remember that Hox genes are regulatory genes (switching genes on and off) which thus control morphogenesis

    Predictions for Genetics?

Yeah it was a 5 mark question in my trial this year! (my school wrote the option as we hadn't covered it entirely yet) I'd would absolutely hate one on gene expression, I find it hard to grasp. It's not looking to good either seeing as it hasn't been asked since 2006.

    Predictions for Genetics?

Broad questions are difficult! Although it's broad, its still 7 marks and they kinda expect you to zone in on a specific point and explain it in detail, whilst referencing others. I'd love one on DNA fingerprinting

    Predictions for Genetics?

I think it's pretty hard to predict seeing as the questions have been heaps varied in previous years. They've pulled questions from every part of the syllabus, with the only repeats being linked genes and human genome. I think they might have a thourough protein synthesis question

    Dropping 3 unit?

This happened to me in prelim! I absolutely hated 3 unit maths though so yeah. However in prelim i was ranked 7/50ish in 3 unit and had a mark of 86% in 2unit (can't remember my rank) After dropping extension, my maths got pretty sloppy and my mark has now dropped to 79% Even though I hated it...

    Predictions for Genetics?

There is a similar post regarding communication, however I thought I should make one concerning the genetics option seeing as it is just as popular. Moving on, what do you think will be asked in this option? I'm most concerned about the big 6/7 markers at the end. 2006: Gene expression (5...

    Belonging Question Predictions.

I'm pinning my hopes on community, identity or relationships. No way they would ask for places, seeing as it was used for both the 2010 and 2011 HSC.
