    ADF Gap Year

What online tests? The stupid practice aptitude test things where you stack the blocks? If so, they're totally unrelated to the real tests. I failed those ones on the site miserably, but passed all the RAAF ones right through to after the board, so yeah, they mean nothing. :)
  2. TheStallion

    ADF Gap Year

You get assigned a case manager when you first apply. If you haven't even applied... then this is a pretty pointless discussion.
  3. TheStallion

Parents, emotional abuse, want to move out - need help!

If you have enough cash - just move out. I can't imagine how hard it is, since I can't say I share your experiences, but your parents can't stop you from moving out.

    ADF Gap Year

@Auraden - If you go for a specialist job, you'll have specialist testing between the YOU session and assessment day. I was booked for spec testing on the same day as the YOU session. Your best bet is to give your case manager a ring. @rizz_31 - Congratulations! :D

    ADF Gap Year

I think the assessment day is pretty similar for officer entry and general entry candidates. Another tip is to make sure that YOU ask some questions as well, it's definitely important to show that you're interested in hearing and learning more. The page Rifleman | Defence Jobs has all info...

    reading/english

@Miss Melly - Ahh you're lucky to be doing Animal Farm in Y11 for Advanced, I loved Animal Farm when I read it last year. :) Anyway, for advanced I'm doing Othello, like a lot of other people here. I haven't read it and don't intend to, i'll probably just watch the movie. I know what happens in...

    ADF Gap Year

What position are you applying for, and Officer or general entry? I'll be able to give more help when I know what sort of position, but something which a lot of people neglet to learn is the ADF harrassment and drug policies, as well as holidays/leave. For example: 9 days long service leave a...

    SDD Major Project Ideas

I'm unsure for mine, but I'm looking at something like an online FPS game. I'm definitely going to go all out and over the top with everything, since I'm really looking at/hoping for a top 10 in the state position for SDD.

    prelim yearly exams

Mine are in weeks 9 and 10, and I intend to absolutely own the shit out of them. :)

    School Certificate: Does it matter?

Some jobs such as when I applied for ADFA ask for your SC results if you apply while still studying for the HSC, so in that sense, it's extremely important. But as said above, no, doesn't make any difference to your ATAR.

    ADF Gap Year

Hey robato, When I went for my specialist testing, 3/20 of us passed. One of those guys was my age, and he did general maths in high school, just like yourself. Now, I know that it does say that you need 2U or greater for a pilot course, but it's weird... if he can beat 17 other people, some...
  12. TheStallion

    ADF Gap Year

If you need any help/tips, let me know. The minimum age for entry into ADFA is 17 years, so applications for ADFA are open to anyone who meets the required age to go to ADFA, it's not done on a yearly basis. I finished FSP at Tamworth recently, in the Advanced stream, with the OSB on the last...

    ADF Gap Year

YOU session aptitude testing is piss easy, you can't fail. When I went for mine, I expected some tough stuff, but ended up coming out of there with 197/197. The most important thing is working fast and accurately. You're not going to get asked to solve a quadratic equation - it's just long...

    aviation (pilot)

I think commercial pilots will eventually be phased out, definitely to the point where the pilot simply sits in the cockpit and observes, in case anything does go wrong.

How much harder is Prelim from year 10?

The first term I screwed up a lot, and didn't adjust my study patterns to fit in with the assessments, and as a result, I got pretty shit marks. However, I turned it around in term 2, and will keep doing so for term 3, to keep up high marks. So no, it's not a huge jump, you just need to be a...

    Favourite subject/s so far

Either Physics or Software Design & Development... suppose i'll say SDD just because I'm doing better in it than I am in Physics.

    Adfa 2010

Look at Home | Defence Jobs, it has all the info there. Anyway, you have plenty of interviews before fitness testing, so don't worry about it yet. The fitness just to join is extremely basic - trust me, anyone can do it, although it does depend on the service that you want to join, and what...

    Adfa 2010

@itszen - You're in Year 11 like me, so you have a lot of time to get fit.

    Senior Geography Project

Mine's due second day back, 28th of July. That gives me 10 days to do it, and I just started. 2500 word essay, 12 min speech, and 12 min powerpoint. I'm doing it on water quality at a lake in my local area, so nice and easy to get primary research for high marks. :)

Anyone interested in the UNSW dept. of Aviation??

Or alternatively, take a look at the B.Tech(Avn) at ADFA. Obviously the testing is extremely stringent, and as a result, you need to be extremely good, and it's also obviously military flight/life, which a lot of people won't like, but on the upside - no fees for studying! :) I was recently...
