PM vows to block 'dark side' of net

Actually Lentern, they're brushing it under the carpet without having to explicitly say so. What will parliament look like in 12 months? A Greens balance of power. What would that mean? Internet censorship wouldn't pass the senate.

PM vows to block 'dark side' of net

No they wouldn't. Not necessarily. A lot of socialist parties and socialist democracies exist today, especially in Europe and Latin America. Very few of them seek to abolish market economics.

Julia Gillard ups the xenophobic rhetoric towards refugees, speaks out against equal marriage rights for gays, adopts the Rudd plan to pretend climate change doesn't exist for another few years, and reiterates her commitment to Internet censorship. What a lady. What a fucking horrible lady...

She's shit, but she's better than Rudd. By a small margin. I have no illusions she's progressive or pro-rights. One need only examine her stance on gay marriage to see that. Her words on refugees are disgusting. But she does one thing Rudd did not: consult. Both her own party and other...

Calm down Lentern. She's better than Rudd (she actually negotiates and consults for a start) and the Greens still have balance of power. Unless she makes a deal with the devil (Coalition) nothing of hers will pass without Greens support, which makes inhumane refugee policy an uphill battle.

Bingo. The key word there is 'exploit'. A genuine free market should be based on hard work and innovation, not exploitation.

And it's a number I agreed with you on as a base level of the Greens vote if I recall? We'll see it at 12% or more on polling day I reckon, but there's no way it will drop below 10%.

I just noticed this, too: The Greens are in a similar position in NSW state politics... Greens: 16% Labour: 25% Coalition: 46% Two Party preferred: take a wild guess. http://www.theaustralian.com.au/politics/state-politics/state-labor-polling-hits-bottom/story-e6frgczx-1225885930325

Greens support is surging in Victoria state politics. Primary vote figures... Greens: 18% Labour: 34% Coalition: 36% Two party preferred: 51-49 to Labour (but given the high Greens vote this could just easily go the Coalition's way due to unpredictability of preferences) The Green vote has...

10 Russian spies arrested in the US, 1 in Cyprus

It compromises the integrity of a state, and since most people support the existence of states, that's a problem. Another way to look at it is corporate spies - they disrupt the free market.

This is a half-decent idea which has a reasonable chance of success. I endorse it.

    General McChrystal's sacking

McChrystal has a right to freedom of speech, and Obama, as his employer, has a right to sack or reprimand him for violating a code of conduct. It's that simple, so stop trying to make a big deal out of it Buchanan.

Exactly. I despise Rudd, but yeah. I'd say more but I'm drunk and shit.
