    Australian Politics

I imagine this is just the beginning. Abbott treated Turnbull like shit for his own political gain on a policy that made good sense and which the Liberals had already won significant amendments to. Abbott is going to look like the goose he is and Malcolm is going to shout it from the roof tops.

    Australian Politics

What I find ironic is that Tony Abbott is rejecting the two possible market-based solutions to curbing CO2 release in favour of an approach based on higher government spending, regulation and control. Malcolm Turnbull just tore Abbott a new one, pointing out that he is full of shit. I...

    Tony Abbott new opposition leader

I'd much prefer Turnbull to the current garbage that inhabits the Liberal Party.

Strong and effective climate change policy, that doesn't involve a great, big new tax

Re: Strong and effective climate change policy, that doesn't involve a great, big new OZONE IS NOT POLLUTION! If Ozone comprised 1% of the air due to an industrial accident we would all die and that would be completely natural, NOT POLLUTION!

    Who wants a job?

Oh well in that case, shower us with your wisdom, oh great one! In return I'll buy you a few beers when you're old enough to drink.

    Who wants a job?

Zero unemployment is particularly undesireable because it means there is no pool of hirable talent, meaning firing current employees becomes a big risk and company expansion is severely limited. I guess since it's hard to fire people they could strike with ease and demand higher pay with...

Strong and effective climate change policy, that doesn't involve a great, big new tax

Re: Strong and effective climate change policy, that doesn't involve a great, big new A lot of medium-term solutions exist, many of which have the benefit of also being long-term solutions. So while I support nuclear power, it cannot be the sole source of power (max 25% of our energy production...

    Is this feasible?

Toshiba Builds 100x Smaller Micro Nuclear Reactor Mini Nuclear Power Plants Could Power 20,000 Homes (Update) Probably won't power a home, but here's an example of a coin-sized nuclear reactor, to show how they can be miniaturised significantly: Coin-sized nuclear isotope battery minted • The...

    Is this feasible?

Very feasible. They already exist. Let me find some examples for you.

    Tony Abbott new opposition leader

The defeat of a weak CPRS that was diluted further by the ex-Liberal leader - of course the Greens aren't going to vote for it. It would cause economic disruption for no environmental gain. They've been clear and transparent on that point for a long time - the government ignored their proposed...

Strong and effective climate change policy, that doesn't involve a great, big new tax

Re: Strong and effective climate change policy, that doesn't involve a great, big new Both. I doubt Abbott will go with either, if he even has a fleshed out plan at all.

Strong and effective climate change policy, that doesn't involve a great, big new tax

Re: Strong and effective climate change policy, that doesn't involve a great, big new He doesn't care all that much about it. He'd be happy not to pass any legislation at all.

Re: Strong and effective climate change policy, that doesn't involve a great, big new Sounds good to me.

only socialism will stop climate change

I eat false dichotomies for breakfast.

Will the Liberals support the Internet censorship scheme now?

Now that Abbott is their leader?

Should we raise the drinking age?

I've read a few studies about what alcohol does the both the brain and body while it's still developing (i.e. by all rights, until 21, definitely at least 18) and it's bad, so I am not going to support lowering the drinking age any time soon. 18 is perfect. Raising it it stupid.

    Tony Abbott new opposition leader

"On the question of an emissions trading scheme, Nielsen had 49 per cent supporting a delay until after Copenhagen and 39 per cent wanting it introduced as soon as possible. Galaxy advanced only the former proposition for a result of 60 per cent. Newspoll found 53 per cent supported Turnbull’s...
