    Can I still get a 90 atar?

This just means you have no safety net of a well performing cohort for you to fall back onto. So preferably be rank 1 in all your subjects or at least top 3 before hsc and spam past papers and you'll get the highest atar available to you (which is >90)

    Can I still get a 90 atar?

The first part of my message? Ok, say I go to a school that ranks 500+, gets no B6s and gives out easy assignments and I score 100s on all my assignments. If I omit that my school is lenient and performs badly then someone can say I'm on track for 99.95 atar when in reality, I'd get cooked by...

    Can I still get a 90 atar?

No one can predict your atar with internal marks only, you need to give at least a range of your school ranking to get at most, a vague estimate You can definitely get in engineering with std maths but you gotta study/be familiar with adv+ math topics to not get cooked by 1st yr maths (for unsw...

Does anyone know if I can get into medicine without bio or chem?

nah, just get high atar, high ucat and ace the interview

should I still try if I know I'm dropping a subject?

Doesn't hurt to try But also if you're not: Going into bio-related fields after school Applying for early entry Then I don't see a reason to try besides for enjoyment and/or ego lol

Am I blind or is this acc wrong

    If it was B, then dy/dx wouldn't be 0 at x = -1

    How are people so smart?

HSC is not about how smart you are, it's more about how you play the game You can be dumb as hell and still get all rounder
  9. wollongong warrior

How hard is extension 2 math?

Ext 2 is not hard conceptually if that's what you're asking Just grind past papers and you'll be fine

how to write detailed answers in limited time?

You can write in dotpoints which will help both you in terms of seeing if you've given enough detail and for the marker since it's easier for them to tick off the criteria

need serious help with english advanced!!!!! lol

Better wording (deliver your points differently if you structure them redundantly), trim down your quotes and make your points more specific Practice makes perfect and keep consciously trying to find ways to trim down your words, not only when you're prompted to 200 words shouldn't be that bad...

    University for Undergrad Mechanical Engineering

I can't speak for unimelb but if you want to go to a uni in nsw, go unsw for engineering I've heard so many bad things about the engineering/compsci faculty in usyd (e.g. quality of teaching and facilities, poor syllabus organisation and course planning in general, etc)💀💀

What sort of laptop should i purchase as someone who intends to pursue engineering at university?

Get a Windows laptop with i5 minimum, i7 if you got the budget Lenovo thinkpad series is pretty good

    Subject Selections Yr 11

If you're interested in the subjects and/or confident you'll do well then you'll be fine Thinking about spreading your subjects out is a pretty useless worry
  15. wollongong warrior

    Internals; do they get scaled?

afaik internal marks are only used to determine your rank within your cohort so scaling them doesn't do anything for you

Do you have to have natural smartness to take hard subjects?

If you're an algebra warrior, you'll be fine (except for proofs maybe) Like iddkdi said, the concepts are simple enough for anyone doing 3u to not have a really hard time and you'll be doing yourself a favour since any stem degree covers 4u topics in like a week whereas you'll have a term-ish if...

    guaranteed selection rank

Never heard of anything like this lol Maybe the people that got in with 90/91 had special considerations like graduating from a gateway school or had a different pathway? (Eg portfolio entry)

Do you have to have natural smartness to take hard subjects?

No I'd say your success in hard subjects depends on your background (eg how prepared you are) and/or if you're inclined to learn and commit
