ANU is considered one of the top unis in the country, so I'd say it has a better reputation than Macq. But if you're going to be there for 1 year only, it doesn't make much of a difference. If you don't get your transfer, would you rather be stuck in Canberra or at Macq?

I think you should focus more on what they might ask you, rather than whether you should wear a tie or not. As long as you're dressed nicely, it's fine. Is carrying a folio not made of animal skin unprofessional?
