is there anyone else who took year 11 too seriously??

I took it seriously, but always kept in mind that it didn't really matter if I failed or didn't do my best. So if I didn't do well in something I wouldn't get hung up on it, and I didn't care about rankings, etc. The biggest motivation I had was to get the stuff finished and handed in on time.

    Essay Writing Skills?

That's right. We should encourage the world at large to be writing responses like this: gday. the movies set in a city in america and the music is good and stuff.the soundtrack makes you think about crime and shit, and how like, weird it can be and stuff. its like the guy in the movie is spying...

    Easiest subjects.

Generally pretty easy but a looooooooot of content. It'll probably be shit easy after the syllabus changes for next year though. Apparently they've cut some out. (I can't be bothered to look at how different it is.)

    Essay Writing Skills?

This. I believe this in itself is also an Americanisation. Possibly intentional?

    Essay Writing Skills?

You write well and (at least from what you've shown here) seem to have a great vocabulary. But you should consider that in the HSC, markers are often just looking for you to get straight to the point. Consider that these markers sit there for hours on end and just want to be able to read a...

    The EE2 Stereotype

I dropped down from 3U to 2U maths and took up EE2. So I guess this is true for me.

So lets say I hand in a 1800 word reflection statement

A full stop on its own will be counted. But if it's a full stop at the end of a word, only the word will be counted. Essentially MS Word counts every character that's "on its own" as a word. E.g. if you had "* . -" they would say this is three words. "*.-" on the other hand, would only be...

    The complexity of Belonging.

    Statement of intent?

boganxcore: I did the same. I really don't even care anymore. I mean, they're going to have to be pretty dedicated to their jobs if they're going to attempt to navigate their way through my journal anyway. :/

    Extension II English Submission 28/08/09

My story was 36 pages, reflection statement 5 or something. I handed those in yesterday, my teacher insisted I didn't need to keep working on it because it was good despite my insistence that it was total crap. I'm still not happy with it at all. :/ I'm now frantically trying to get my journal...

    It ends this week...

Lol at everyone posting on the EE2 threads at the wee hours of the morning. I've been up all night trying to get everything together, my teacher wants everything handed in this afternoon before 5. :/ She actually thinks my story's going to do well. Boy, will she get a shock when those marks get...

Finished Major Work? Started Reflection Statement?

I actually read earlier in the notes from the examiner's centre (last year's version) that the markers actually prefer the bibliography in the journal rather than attached to the story / reflection. That's just some food for thought... You can read the thing on the board of studies website.

    Statement of intent?

I'm glad I'm not the only one. :/ My teacher told me nothing about this, so I'm kinda glad I read this thread, even if it IS only like 30 hours before the thing's due...! My teacher did tell me to paste in copies of my internal assessments though, so I guess a lot of my "intent" is included in...

    2009 CSSA Trial HSC

Our school did the CSSA trials but our teacher also bought the independent ones so we have a greater variety of questions for practice essays, creatives, etc before the HSC. We got back our marks (from the CSSA Trial) today and had a look at the independent ones afterwards and I must say I'm so...

So lets say I hand in a 1800 word reflection statement

Currently have mine sitting at around 1600 but there was more I wanted to add. I may try and further summarise what I have so that I can add more stuff, and hopefully not go over around 1600... I doubt it's going to stick out like a sore thumb being around 100 words over, but something like 300...

Finished Major Work? Started Reflection Statement?

Congrats marquelle! I hope that's the way I'll be feeling tomorrow evening. My reflection statement (for a short story) currently contains around 10 footnotes, but I do still need to cut down on my word count so who knows if some of those references might just have to go. Though, in standards...

So lets say I hand in a 1800 word reflection statement

This crap is driving me insane. I can in no way cull down my entire years' worth of investigation, the writing process AS WELL AS REFLECTION into 1500 words. It just isn't happening. As much as I read examples from showcase / standards packages etc, I just seem unable to get mine to emulate that...

Finished Major Work? Started Reflection Statement?

If you're going to make things up, just make sure it's consistent throughout your story, reflection statement and journal as well...

    bonus points

I'm not really talking about individual schools, because many have different voting processes, etc to decide prefects and captains. But chances are the only reason people even get a look-in for captaincy / prefecture at many schools is popularity. I'm not saying this is a good or bad thing, but...

Who can't believe the kind of concepts they came up with by the end of their MW?

Lol, there's a lot of that going on for me as well.
