    Economics Pre-Honours/Honours

Very minimal value. Probably not worth the effort, it is significantly harder than the normal stream, especially for Micro subjects. Saying that, you could still take ECMT2110/2150 which is a good course and not too hard if you keep up with it.

Need help! Has anyone done ECMT2160 or ECOS3903

I thought ECMT2150 is a pre-requisite for ECOS3903/3904, not ECMT2160. You can get an outline simply be emailing the School of Economics. Haven't done ECMT2160 but ECOS3903 is a great course. Very interesting, not overly hard, but it does require quite alot of work. However, you'll be...

    honours?

Good to know you're still stalking all my posts despite being in the States. I can't be that interesting, can I?

    honours?

Fair enough, but I am basing my opinions entirely on what lecturers and people working in the economics/finance/consulting industry have told me. OP, do a search on Finance Honours threads on whirlpool. You'll find alot of really knowledgable people, but you will need to be able to separate...

    honours?

Honours is better than Masters for Commerce/Arts disciplines because it's harder to get in and you won't be 'overqualified' for entry-level jobs that you could be with a Master's degree. Also, usually in a Masters you'll learn the same content as a Bachelor's degree (with the exception of maybe...

    Economics Pre-Honours/Honours

Late reply, but I'm studying a BEc/LLB in my third year and have gone through the pre-Honours stream so I can help: You could do Honours in the 6th year, however it would be much better if you did it in your fourth year because it helps to go through Honours with your own cohort. In any case...

    Semester 1 USYD Chatter Thread

We can still customise this timetable right? Would like to get a day off for work.

Difference between B.Arts Economics major and B.Economics

The economics units you do will be exactly the same. The BA will allow you to take more subjects from the Arts faculty (but none from the business school), while the BEc will allow you to take all subjects from the business school (but only 8 subjects from the Arts faculty). So depends where...

    USYD commerce majors and prospects

It probably won't matter too much in terms of employment prospects between maths and econometrics. It sounds like you would probably enjoy maths more, but you'll have the opportunity to take introductory courses in econometrics to gauge your interest in it anyway. Whichever one you choose, I...

    USYD commerce majors and prospects

I had a feeling I'd find you replying to this. You still getting notifications every time I post?

    USYD commerce majors and prospects

I have a few thoughts on this: (1) No, it doesn't matter whether your Economics major is under the B.Comm, B.Ec or B.A, you'll do the same Economics units regardless (although your introductory micro and stats is slightly different under the B.Comm). (2) There are a couple advantages to...

How bad is it to delay compulsory subjects?

The math in engineering would be much, much harder I would think. No comparison really.

    Recent ECMT1020 UOS Outline?

I haven't done QBUS2810 and don't know much about it, but if you enjoyed BUSS1020 and you're semi-competent at maths then I would definitely recommend ECMT1020. If you either keep up with the lectures or the readings and do the tutorial questions every week it can be a very nice WAM booster.

    accounting/marketing or accounting/finance or finance/marketing?

Hey mate. First, let me just say that it's good that you're already thinking about these things, that puts you ahead of alot of your peers. Ceteris paribus, accounting/finance has the best employment prospects. However, there is no point doing it if you don't enjoy it and hence do badly in it...

Is law really the death sentence that everyone makes it out to be?

At Usyd and UNSW a bell curve makes it harder to achieve top marks since the competition is very strong.

Is law really the death sentence that everyone makes it out to be?

They will look at the very best from UTS and UMaq (top 10% probably). It's important to understand that the relationship between UNSW and Usyd grads and the best jobs in law is mostly correlation and not causation, although some employers will have a bias. What I mean by this is that take the...

Uts law/ business or unsw commerce/ arts??

OP, do you want to practice law? If not, go for UNSW Comm/Arts, if yes, go for UTS Business/Law. If unsure, the scholarship probably pushes it in favour of UNSW. An important factor to consider though is that you might not get credit for your Arts subjects in a Comm/Law degree (at Usyd you...

    Recent ECMT1020 UOS Outline?

^ The course material and structure has changed quite abit since that outline. They don't teach matrices, constrained optimisation or partial differentiation in this course anymore (that is saved for ECOS2903 and ECON1003 I think), and they go into a bit more detail into multiple regression...

American Wanting to Learn Australian Education System

My point in the above post is that if they scrapped the LLB they would lose money because the people who did it because they got in or because 'mommy and daddy told them to' as you say wouldn't enrol in it (90% of these people wouldn't do the JD). Additionally, as I said before there would be no...
