Students Against Scaling - Post Here!

Refer to my previous posts, I never suggested this. You obviously haven't followed the topic much. General Maths would have a cap imposed on it in the system I see as fair. The subject content of all subjects would stay the same, it could be adjusted to suit the needs of all Australian senior...

Students Against Scaling - Post Here!

Univerities Admission Index, System Changes - A Proposal by James Schofield Copyright 2009 James Schofield The Universities Admission Index is a ranking system which enables academics to calculate with the aid of technolgy, ranks for Australian senior high school students. Queensland is the...

Students Against Scaling - Post Here!

OK, Hybrid. First, this is totally off-topic. Second, I have decided to not study mathematics for the Higher School Certificate because I see little point in attending classes for a subject that I can discover for myself. I would much rather work at my own pace and do interesting little pieces...

Students Against Scaling - Post Here!

Hello all, My name is James. I am a Year 10 student studying toward my N.S.W. School Certificate this year. I have read extensively about the N.S.W. Higher School Certificate marking processes. A brief summary of the N.S.W. H.S.C. marking process follows. Higher School Certificate - Record of...

10 units... is it too risky?

Derivative, you obviously did not even read my post. Note that Student A takes both Chemistry and Senior Science into the HSC year, dropping only Biology and CAFS. So my example is a case of what you have stated. Please read things more carefully - it will help with English! :)

10 units... is it too risky?

Not true. The exception to the rule is that in Year 12 you may take Senior Science in the place of another science course you studied during Preliminary year, e.g. Student A studied the following subject in Year 11: English Standard, Mathematics Advanced, Mathematics Extension, Biology...

NEW NSW & ACT H.S.C. Mathematics course - Mathematics General 1

I don't think I said that I was personally considering General Maths ... oh wait, I did say that! ;) Anyway, don't worry, I'm more likely to study Mathematics Extension (I haven't updated my signature yet) ... however; I would really like to do the International Baccalaureate instead of th HSC...

Are there any Italian languages groups in Sydney e.g. at the library?

I have heard that you do Italian Extension, so please excuse me for speaking Italian in the following message and please excuse any mistakes... I'm currently doing the year 10 Italian course, which is the equivalent knowledge of HSC Italian Beginners! :) Continuers 2010, here I come! lol :D Ci...

    Average UAI

That's because people who left school at the end of Year 10 are included in the UAI calculation, isn't it? And I don't think UAI calculation is as complex as it sounds somehow... it sounds to me as though there are a few people, maybe a dozen people on a UAC Scaling Committee... who simply say...

    Average UAI

Arguing for the sake of arguing, pretty much... lol. :D And Tim I think that's your name, anyways it's 4-unit guy ... my point was ... people who do 4-unit maths are ill-equipped for University study in at least one common university subject that EVERY decent university student has to do...

What did you do all holidays?

May I point out to the Year 11 students here: If you plan on doing Year 12 and finishing your HSC, YEAR 11 COUNTS TO ABSOUTELY NOTHING unless you do Mathematics - any course in maths ... 30% of the HSC exam in composed of Preliminary Mathematics questions... but Mathematics, at least at HSC...

Is Medicine really a hard course?

very hard, but Grade Point Averages are only used to place international students into certain courses... to be honest, you can get 90 UAI and, due to scaling... have a relatively average "grade point average". You can average 70s all year in all your subjects' assessments, then ace the HSC...

    Average UAI

it's (fixed). Also... I'm not trying to sound cocky here, but... what stats do you have to back that up (or is it just a very rough approximation)? Stupid Asians doing 4-unit maths who can't even do statistics!!! I don't know what to say...

    check these out! mysterious formulas!!

If it's too complicated, don't tell me, but... what's 'integration'? Is that where you substitute algebraic symbols into an equation instead of putting values for those symbols in? (Is it the opposite to 'substitution'?) Laugh at me if you want... we haven't learnt that yet though...
