Subjects for year 12: Will these allow a high ATAR?

From looking at the modules in both advanced and standard, the complexity and depth in advanced is far more than that in standard. And I don't have an interest in that level of depth for english XD

Subjects for year 12: Will these allow a high ATAR?

I think advanced will take too much energy out of me... It definitely has the past few terms, and it's driving me crazy. The benefit with scaling just wouldn't apply to me at all because of that hahaha

Subjects for year 12: Will these allow a high ATAR?

Hello! The subjects I have been heavily thinking about doing for year 12 are Standard English (I'm in advanced right now but I don't feel I'm up to the level required for advanced), advanced maths, extension 1 maths, extension 2 maths (picking that up in year 12), biology, and physics. I am...

    Which road to take??

But what about afterwards? For PhD's and research you have to pick a very specific area and work on it for years and years... Giving more and more chance of getting bored as always :(

    Which road to take??

Hello. I seem to post here a lot, so I apologise for the spamming of the thread thing or whatever it's called. Haha I have a semi-science related question for anyone willing to read this! Please do, any opinion is welcome. I love science and I'm incredibly passionate about it, and I would...

    Summaries for exams

Hello, I have an extension exam coming up and want to write summaries for each topic. How do I lay it out? And for permutations and combinations - a topic that mostly relies on experience with types of questions - how do I summarise that? Also for trigonometry and polynomials...

    Biology herbarium assignment

Hello everyone! I'm writing my reports for the five flowers I have to do, and I'm unsure on how to lay out each report. Do I use subheadings? My teacher posted a case study on mangroves and it has 6 subheadings that discuss various traits and characteristics of the mangrove, so would this...

Help with ratios of double angle problem!!

Hi there! Prelim extension 1 :) I can't understand (or get the answer for) question 7a in exercise 6.15 in the maths in focus textbook. For those without that textbook, the question is: "By writing 3x as 2x + x, find an expression in terms of x for: a) Sin3x" The answer is...

    Should I do 4U?

It has made me love it more, to be honest. Hahaha :D

    Should I do 4U?

We have only had 2 exams in 2U this year, and I stuffed up the first one because I had been sick for a week prior to the test. I think I came 4th in the second test with 82%, but I know I could have studied better for it. So those are the reasons I'm only 6/11 in the year. And yes, my...

    Should I do 4U?

That seems to be VERY similar to university physics! Haha Which is what I want to do after year 12... My plan is to do a combined degree of maths/Bsc (physics) or engineering/BSc (physics)
  12. ScienceGuy99

    Physics degrees?

I was thinking about either a combined degree of Bachelor of Science (physics)/Bachelor of Mathematics, OR, Bachelor of computer engineering/Bachelor of Science (physics). With the science degree, I was worried that I'd have to do a course from each field (chem, bio, oceanography...), and...

    Should I do 4U?

I'm doing advanced and extension 1 maths right now, and I'm unsure if I should do extension 2 in year 12. I really love maths and would love to do extension 2 because why not have more maths!! Haha The problem is how I'm doing in 2U and 3U right now. I'm 6/11 in advanced, but know I can do...

    Physics degrees?

Is the specialist physics within the same degree, or are you referring to a PhD or masters? Also, do you think a Bachelor of Science major in physics, or and engineering degree would be better to go into a PhD for physics? And for careers as a "physicist" too? :)

    Physics degrees?

Hi there! I have looked on all the university websites and haven't found a Bachelors Degree just for physics; it's either a bachelor of science with a MAJOR in physics, or a bachelor of biophysics which isn't what I'm after. You know of any degrees that are purely physics degrees...

    Physics/Astrophysics/Particle Physics

I didn't think just a major would be good enough haha :P But thankyou :) Do you know what it's like to get a job doing research at uni in Australia? Do you think all the "action" is happening overseas?
  17. ScienceGuy99

    Physics/Astrophysics/Particle Physics

Would a bachelor of science with a major in physics be enough to do a PhD or masters? Or would I need to find a uni with a dedicated physics degree?

    Physics/Astrophysics/Particle Physics

Hi everyone! I thought I'd put this question up on here to see if anyone can help or ease my stress and worry about it... I am aware that careers in physics are very rare - especially in Australia - and also the level of maths and science required for this field of science. But I'm...

    Is MX2 worth it?

To everyone who's done or is doing MX2, whats your opinion on its usefulness (in terms of university degrees) and how have you managed the harder work and work load during your HSC? What I mean by "usefulness" is; would the benefits of getting exposure to 4U maths be worth the work during...

What science to drop for year 12?

*Definitely want to do some sort of science degree
