Section I - Core (Pompeii and Herculaneum)

    Definately Corinthian.
  2. T

    Section IV - Historical Periods

Agreed, a) was way too abigious. I ended up writing about just about every single consul and general. Only way I could do it justive was with 15 pages of information. Greece is in there. Hellenisim is mentioned specifically. Ambigious dot point can also be linked like "impact of wars of...

Section I - Core (Pompeii and Herculaneum)

Exactly my thoughts in reading time.

    finding the greatest coefficient...

Another method is using the formula (n-r+1)/r *(b/a) >=1

What areas did you study and how many pages did you write?

Personally I did New Kingdom Egypt until Amenhotep III. Disliked it and wrote 7 pages. Hatshepsut was good: 10 pages. Wars of expansion 264-133 was excellent: 15 pages. And filled up the lines for the core.

    Section III - Personalities

Hatshepsut was allright. The 10-marker was unique and something I've never seen before, content wise it was allright. The 15-marker was predictable and quite content-packed.

    Section IV - Historical Periods

Punic wars was awesome, the question was perfect, very similar to the trial and an assesment task.
  8. T

    Section II - Societies

New kindom egypt till Amenhotep III sucked. The new format through me off, not as many easy marks. The 12-marker was a killer, personally it shoul have been a 5-6 marker.
  9. T

    General Thoughts - Ancient History

I didn't like the paper that much. Pompeii and Herculaneum sucked. New kingdom egypt sucked. Hatshepsut half-sucked. Punic wars was awesome.
  10. T

Section I - Core (Pompeii and Herculaneum)

I didn't like the section that much, the 8-marker was good though. The new format - i.e. no 1-marker suprised me.

    raw mark for band 6?

If you look in the technical forum, it was revealed that the cutoff was 83 in 2004.

    Predict Ancient

I have them both, bot not electronically. Anything specific you want to know?
  13. T

    Predict Ancient

The dot-point, "private buildings - villas, houses, shops". i.e. the layout and purpose of the houses.
  14. T

    Predict Ancient

In 2004 it was 83. I predict private hourses for the 4-marker, the economy for the 8-marker and issues of conservation/reconstruction for the 10 marker. For those doing Hatshepsut, I predict a building program for 10 marks and an assess question for 15 marks. For New Kingdom Egypt, I have...

    Amduat? Book of the Dead?

As far as I know, no. The amduat is also known as the 'book of What is in the underworld'. Wheras the Book of the dead is known as the 'Chapter of coming forth by day'. The book of the dead contained all the spells, rituals and all the other stuff like the judgement of the dead, which are needed...

    Political Life in P&H

The duumviri and aediles are the main points in the dot-point, but there are other things. Try to give a general location of the inscriptions I guess. If the question is a 4-marker, not much detail is required at all. I don't actually have many inscriptions, other then election propoganda, 'this...

    Political Life in P&H

Most are inscriptions from what I know, basically every building contains some form of acknowledgement to politicians. However there is the frescoes in the house of Julia Felix depicting life in the forum. There is also lots of grafitti. Personally I wouldn't remember them. After all, the...

    \text If\ y=sin^{-1}x, \ x=siny\\ \frac{\mathrm{d}x }{\mathrm{d} y}=cosy\\ \therefore \frac{\mathrm{d} y}{\mathrm{d} x}=\frac{1}{cosy}\\ \ \ \ \ = \frac{1}{\sqrt{1-sin^2x}}\\= \frac{1}{\sqrt{1-x^2}}\\\therefore \frac{\mathrm{d} }{\mathrm{d} x}sin^{-1}x = \frac{1}{\sqrt{1-x^2}}

    the heardest hsc paper??

I did 2005 yesterday, and actually didn't find it too bad, only lost 2 marks i think. Q9 and 10a weren't too bad, and 10b was unique but wasn't as challenging as previous q10's.
