The old should I do Higher Maths/Physics question

First of all for physics, its nothing like the kind of "compare and contrast" and "critically analyse" physics you've done in high school. Its all about calculations and problem solving.

    Got in UNSW- Now what?!

Yes. Other people may have enrolled already, so the classes are full. Lectures usually don't get so full you can't do the subject you need to, but you might not get the time preference for tutorials and labs. See this thread.

    B Eng/B Sci question

This page: http://www.eng.unsw.edu.au/prospect/ug/programs.htm#combined The science part depends on what you're doing for your eng part. eg, you can't do Comp Eng / Comp Sci eg, Electrical Engineering (http://www.handbook.unsw.edu.au/undergraduate/programs/2007/3725.html) tells you to pick a...

    on lap-top..

I've been at uni 4 years with a laptop with no problems. Like people have said, its common sense. Everyone I know who has lost one was because they left it unattended (usually in the library)

O-Week...is there any point in going?

If you're full time you'll be using it as your concession card. No concession card before your high school concession card expires = paying full fare. And yes you need it, its your student card. O-week and week 1 is when everyone ay uni tries to get their card. Imagine every single student at...

O-Week...is there any point in going?

You don't need to pay $12 for your first card. Its only when you lose it you have to pay for your replacement. Everyone at UNSW has to get a new card every year. So yes imagine the line outside e-spot during O-week.

    Casino Royale

I felt that he didn't quite have the same Bond charm that has been in the recent Bond movies...I know he's just been promoted to 007 in this one, but it just doesn't quite feel the same. And no M...the fanciest thing he has in his car is a defibrillator...*sigh*

    3rd Year comp courses

Even if you don't like studying algorithms its useful to learn. Waiting to do that myself. Can be boring, but probably quite relevant if you don't know much about databases, and is useful in the real world where a lot of things are based on databases. Only if you have an interest in...

O-Week...is there any point in going?

Theres nothing you have to do at O-week, but you would probably want to be there before O-week to get your student card.

    on lap-top..

Style doesn't mean smaller and lighter. What they meant by style is the design and the name tag. You can get smaller and lighter laptops with comparable specs to VAIOs for the same price, simply because its not a Sony. Theres no use for a laptop that looks good unless it does what you need it to...

    Summer session courses

The definition of full time study is 48uoc per year (24 per session), I doubt people usually do this much in summer (let alone 2 weeks winter). I think of summer/winter session as extra time, so I don't think you would call them part or full time.

    computer science

Thats just as far as UAC is concerned. When you accept/enrol on myUNSW you'll be asked for the "UNSW Academic Program code" https://my.unsw.edu.au/student/commencing/AcceptUAC.html edit: that page tells you that the UNSW program code for comp sci and comp eng is the same. I know comp sci is...

    Semester 1 maximum load

Someone from FCE correct me, but from what I've heard FCE does not let you overload at all. You're better off doing your gen eds in summer/winter if thats the case.
