Do HSC sciences need more maths?

I agree with the guy who said "maths is quality". Currently if your HSC science class wants to do more maths in their sci classes, they have to ask the teacher to teach beyond the syllabus and provide them with extension work. I can understand why there's not a lot of maths in say, biology -...

Do HSC sciences need more maths?

I haven't officially started preliminary biology yet, but there was a shitload of "assess the impact" and "contribution to science" questions in the 2009 School Cert Science test, it seemed. I guess they're getting us ready for the shitty HSC science questions that come up? Assessing the...

Do HSC sciences need more maths?

So, do you believe that NSW Higher School Certificate courses in science require heavier maths to be written into the syllabuses? Or are you of the school of the thought that says, "less maths makes the scientific concepts more accessible and easier to understand, therefore it must be a good...

Zach Henwood is a guitarist, not a professional one, but a student of it. How'd you know that if you're not him? Spooky lol :D

    I help you thread.

You're probably intelligent enough to realise this but meh: it's thank you*. And a Band 4 is a great mark in Biology - it's a difficult course, it's a hardcore science. Bio might be 'soft' compared to Chemistry, but I think bio is only easier because it's more interesting... both require at...

    Tom Brennan

Any texts that feature adolescents going on somewhat similar inner journeys would go well with it. BTW I've read The Story of Tom Brennan but for pleasure, not for the HSC.

I thought you would know my name by now - quite a few peeps on BoS do. My first name's James. :) No I'm not Italian, but I wish I was! I'm doing Continuers next year in a class with 7 Beginners. I'm 0% but I can speak a lot of it, lol, just kidding... if I had to rate how well I speak...

What is the most interesting HSC science course

DUDE read what I said. To quote myself: "I have come to the conclusion that OUTSIDE of high school, physics is the best albeit most mathematical science". Many students would agree that the HSC course in its own right is too dumbed down to amaze you, although flicking through textbooks of...

    Roll Call Prelim 2010

*gives another hi five* I'm not doing extension maths either ... or any extensions! I chose my favourite subject, Kitchen Operations (better know as Hospitality - Kitchen Operations) over extensions. And despite hospo's history of poor scaling, I am proud that I was not pressured into doing an...

I have trouble believing that you aren't Zach Henwood, given the subject choices changes you have been through. My friend(?) Zach has ended up choosing the same subjects, but he takes STR1 instead of ENGEX. :)

Thanks Michelle. :) He has good intentions (I have always believed 90% is a boy, dunno why) ... but I think he is just a very smart guy who workshard. 4U maths candidates tend to be perfectionists! (Bring on the neg rep_)

    Advanced English?

4U would have been AWESOME. It's such a pity my school runs extensions at the same time as VET subjects, no exceptions (except for distance education)! I'm going to miss extensions badly... but Hospo will make me feel better I'd say... I thought, "Hm. Do I want to spend 104 minutes analysing...

    Uni study vs HSC study

    teaching or accounting!?!?!?!

My dad is a fifty-two-year-old accountant and he runs his own business with another male friend (BTW my dad's not gay if it sounds like that..). He makes about $40,000 gross a year. After tax one could say he sees about $25000 of it. Accounting is good for people who like maths, according to...

How to do well in English?

I do have a concept though, because in the last month of Year 10 we discussed next year's area of study and what related material would be appropriate (basically any text under which a physical or inner journey occurs)... I bet you can guess what our AOS is, lol... :D

How to do well in English?

NO...if you were a good student of English, you would have realised by now that it is similar to maths in that it is about SKILLS. You should NOT be memorising every single piece of writing you do for the HSC... that might get mediocre (average) results... but to get into the top band, to crack...

How to do well in English?

I have already started gathering related material for Year 11 and HSC English (Advanced). Too keen, you reckon? :/ P.S. I start Year 11 late Jan 2010...

That's OK then, but your words sounded sarcastic when read aloud. I still think you were being sarcastic, but maybe you honestly were being polite...I honestly don't know.

What is the most interesting HSC science course

You're an idiot. You do 4U Mathematics, which is considered by most academic communities (i.e. universities) to be a science! However, maths is also an art. :) I have examined textbooks for each preliminary and HSC science course, except for Earth and Environmental Science, which only dweebs...
