I remember for my Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences welcome, they didn't check whether you were a student there. You could just randomly sit inside as long as you don't make a disturbance. Most of the stuff they say there would be found online, but it's always more assuring to hear it spoken...

I just checked the website, I don't see any retail positions available, though there are some part-time postal delivery officer vacancies until 11 Feb. Those working in postal retail are probably permanent workers and I doubt they hire any part-timers.

Honestly, unis expect you to stay as a FULL-TIME student and you can't ask them directly about wanting to leave a day free. You ought to see if you can swap with another student.

You better email the course lecturer and see what he/she thinks of the different versions, and whether the Q&A sections make a significant difference.

I doubt there are any 9-cell netbooks. Because from what I know, the 6-cell ones are pretty bulky and heavy already. Say, if a netbook is designed to run on 3-cell battery and you replace it with a 6-cell battery, there's going to be a bulge on the bottom. So, the answer to your question is no.
