are second years and above exempted from homework? lol ouch that must've hurt. pretty crazy with leaving bags outside on the ground if you have textbooks in them

    Charging laptops

Go the main library, there are like hundreds of powerpoints there. And seats too (you can sit on the floor if all seats are full but powerpoints are surely available).

    Problem logging into blackboard/IM.

I just logged in fine today with Chrome.

    general UNSW chit-chat

google chrome ftw i don't even have lags while opening files on blackboard on my little netbook

    Asking q's during lectures

Short questions are alright, but keep it to 1 or 2 per lecture. Too many questions (especially stupid ones) can be very frustrating for others.

    1st day of uni...

Luckily bags were allowed in the UNSW Bookshop if there were no textbooks inside. I wouldn't dare putting my white-coloured bag on the floor outside! Had a lecture and was quite sleepy throughout, two of my friends were playing games on a iTouch right next to me.

best things to write on during lectures

I like typing on a netbook/mini PC during lectures because it's so much quicker than writing and less tiring.

What was ur first day @ Uni like, Uni Students?

Just paid around $120 for brand new textbooks... yay. Had a lecture in Chemical Science theatre and was pretty sleepy.
  10. D

    Which to choose?

    UNWS = fail troll
  11. D

Can u eat in lecture rooms?

If you eat, make sure it doesn't have any smells and doesn't have crunching noises when you eat. Stick to small snacks. Chocolate is a good option.
  12. D

    Elise test

If you're not passing it even after more than 5 attempts, you'll have a hard time surviving in uni.
  13. D

    UNSW - WiFi

Guess what? I saw people playing PS3 in the main library one day last year, near the end of sem 2. =P
  14. D

    Whats the best uni overall?

    UNSW for commerce.
  15. D

First week: No tutorials or lab classes?

Just if you're not sure, untick all the boxes on your myUNSW class timetable except for week 1 and you'll find out. That simple.
  16. D

    Which clubs did you join?

I didn't get to join any, because the stalls were already closed/closing at around 4 something. lol fail for me, but I live nearby so wasn't such a waste of time. I know some of the clubs will still be setting up stalls next week.
  17. D

    HECS $500 Discount?

I pay upfront as well and I get 20% off this semester's tuition fees.
  18. D

    organisation

Make sure you use the most time effective and simplest way to organise your notes, because once you get past week 3 or 4 it's easy to get lazy with note taking.
  19. D

Who's up for an o-week meetup?

unless there are gigs/parties during the weekends, yes it's closed on weekends. the uni is pretty much empty on weekends unless it's assignment/study periods.
  20. D

How much do tutors and lab demonstrators get paid?

I took an FBE course in sem 1 last year - BENV1042, and my tutor was in her third year I think. Pretty sure if you're friendly with lecturers you'll get a chance.
