    Quad or Dual Core?

Not really no, it wouldn't hurt anything (other than your wallet). Whats best though? :p Two cores at 3GHz, both of which you're more likely to use, or the quad core 2.66GHz, where in most cases you're only going to use a maximum of 2 of the 4 cores anyway? I have a Q6600 (quad core 2.4GHz)...

    Quad or Dual Core?

AFAIK, not that many games will benefit from having a quad core CPU, so I'm not sure about that statement you're making. Having more cores only useful if your software is going to make use of them.

Easier courses = easier to achieve good grades? ( HD or D)

To add to the above, other courses you may want to do later in your uni life might have a pre-requisite of the normal or higher version of an earlier subject rather than the introductory level.

I get wat HECS-help is..but what is with the contrib. of $500+ to get a 20% off

Not 20% off $3,000! There's not a lot of incentive to pay more than $500 if you get the 20% discount straight away is there? You get a discount equivalent to 20% of the amount that you paid, so they more you pay up front, the bigger the discount is going to be. Subject fees vary based on which...
