    General Thoughts: Mathematics

My teacher's advice was even if you have no idea how to do a question still write down processes/formulas that you think may be associated with the solutions because they've changed the marking a little. Apparently, if you tackle a 3 marker and are somewhat on the right track, they'll pay you a...

    General Thoughts: Mathematics

as expected... could do most of it...didn't know how to approach about 3-5 questions (well, parts of the bigger 'questions). Application of calculus is usually my strong point but I found the trout question really hard :/ could not do the last 2 parts. Overall, it was a fair exam.

    General Thoughts: Ancient History

Seriously!? They must be Draconian with the marking then. What do they expect? A PhD thesis? For god's sake we have 40 minutes to write it, even if someone is really knowledgeable, you can bet there is almost no-one that can write down absolutely everything pertinent to the question really...

    General Thoughts: Ancient History

Noo...I clearly remember an alabaster cup in the Antiquity 2 book. Ohh well, one mark's not going to make any difference...a shitty mark will stay a shitty mark. Yes, people were walking early out of mine...many others were just sleeping on the desks. Well it certainly disadvantaged those...

    General Thoughts: Ancient History

I made a big emphasis on how little is known about his early life. Talked about how Egypt's situation was stable during his childhood, how he had a brother, Thutmose and thus, was never intended to be king of Egypt. Mentioned Amenhotep III and how, judging from an inscritption on a cup found at...

    General Thoughts: Ancient History

I reckon the difficulty of the test depended on what topics everyone was doing. For instance, reading through the paper now...the personality question (a) was the same for pretty much everyone (background). However, answering that for Akhenaten (which was my option) was much harder than...

    General Thoughts: Ancient History

Wow, that sounds just a little dodgy...considering social structure was an integral part of the economy question (economic roles of each class).

    General Thoughts: Ancient History

Wow, while I didn't do the question myself it sounds spot on! I wouldn't say adding a lot of contextual background will give you an advantage over someone who doesn't, but as long as after writing that you still answer the question adequately it should be fine.

    General Thoughts: Ancient History

Something along the lines of: Pompeii: Earth tremors before eruption, rain of pumice in early stages, some of the six surges do not reach pompeii, sixth surge most severe. Covered by 90-110 cm of volcanic material. Herculaneum: No evidence of seismic activity before eruption, no rain of...

    General Thoughts: Ancient History

*Said their political power was not absolute but they fulfilled the following roles: *Had two votes in major trials. *Were only two members of gerousia under 60. *Could appoint officials to receive foreign visitors. *Issues involving public roads and unmarried heiresses.

    General Thoughts: Ancient History

Exactly, I was afraid that I will answer it in like 2 pages and have nowhere to go. Wait..if you talked only vaguely about diplomacy what was your main argument? I would have gone with his system of diplomacy and reasons why it was a peaceful era, along with talk about how he still depicted...

    General Thoughts: Ancient History

Challenging... P&H: alright, but could have done much better in the 10 marker. Talked about Lazer, Bisel, the other two sources and overall contributions of improving technology. My answer was pretty vague full of lame phrases and vague comments...should have been more specific about what they...

General Thoughts: English Advanced Paper 2

Mod A (Wit/Donne): Fine, was always my weakest module, but I didn't really write in third person just talked about "audience appreciation is augmented through exploration of the inherent human passions of...." Hope that's fine :/ Mod B (Speeches): THEY DIDN'T SPECIFY A SPEECH!!! Question was...

How did you all manage your time for standard?

Spent 30 mins on creative, 45 mins on essay and, 35 on short answers. Finished just in time :)

    Estimate Raw Marks

I'd say best case: 39-40-ish Worst case: well, hell's the limit.

General Thoughts: English Paper 1 (AOS)

Haha my main evidence was evolution of the foot motif. I'd say its not paramount to getting a good mark, as long as you talked about something else solidly enough to back it up.

    Scanned Paper

Hmm...according to SMH: 75,168: Number of tudents taking at least one HSC subject this year 69,277: Number of students sitting an English exam today well...shit. 5891 people were just given the biggest advantage possible.

Did we have write the quote in our creative??

I don't think so provided you used it adequately, the marker should get it. But I noted the stimulus I used at the top just in case. "Central element" is pretty vague. It means you didn't have to quote it in your story directly. I used the first one, it was central to the setting up of my...

    Section 1 - Stimulus

Phew, thank god I interpreted that right :) Some people were saying it was a picture of the speaker's children or something :P
