    USYD access card worth it?

You can always just try getting it this year and if it doesn't feel worth it, don't bother getting it in future.

When do people socially start to form at Uni

Did you sit next to anyone and make conversation? Sometimes you can be unfortunate enough to sit next to someone who's just really antisocial/awkward, but if you ask questions like what course/subjects they're doing, most people are keen for a chat because you're all new and nervous.

Transferring from science to combined science/arts? @ Sydney

Because you're moving from a single degree into a double degree, I don't think it comes under an internal transfer and you may have to go through UAC at the end of the year. If you choose this, you can get all subjects you do count towards the degree so you won't have wasted any time at all. And...

Do I really need to buy these textbooks?

You don't really need any of them. They're available in the library and you can photocopy relevant pages, if needed. I'm pretty sure there are also sometimes copies in the Lizard Learning Lounge (level 5 carslaw which is a room for first year biology students to study and stuff).

When do people socially start to form at Uni

O week is a good chance to meet people, but it can sometimes be difficult to make friends because a lot of people go in groups. Tutes are a great way to meet people and chat and ask if they want to hang out/grab a coffee after. Clubs and societies I think are the best, because you're...

Mayor insists that NSB + NSG should become partially selective schools?

comparatively. compared to getting to other selective schools. eg hornsby would be a pain in the arse for anyone not from the north, but people from the north can get to nsg/nsb, and because it's only 2 stops from city circle stations, so can people from all different train lines. edit: also...

Mayor insists that NSB + NSG should become partially selective schools?

but that's exactly what a selective school IS. duh

    Usyd's timetables are out

Lawrence Warner has left for a job at Kings College in London. There are still other options though. Or in second sem, you could apply for special permission to do your core uni and extension units at the same time (no guarantee they'll grant this, but they did for me).

Mayor insists that NSB + NSG should become partially selective schools?

well hey, some us would have attended those schools and have a vested interest.

    Usyd's timetables are out

choose a different core. You've got 5 options there so it's probably something silly like only the two you've chosen clash. Deceit/Disguise is taken by Huw Griffiths (or it has been for the last couple of years) and he's pretty great, so I'd recommend that. Edit: just looked at the semesters...

only a single pic of sv and blue exists and it was not taken tonight.

Mayor insists that NSB + NSG should become partially selective schools?

Just gonna say that there's Bradfield right across the road from NSG and up the street from NSB and they don't have full enrollments at all so I don't understand why the Mayor isn't considering that as an option. As someone who went to a selective school, if I heard that it was going to become...

What goes with O-week when it rains

The union has to spend $10 000 on getting flooring put down this year so that doesn't happen again. Basically, o-week still happens, just with ponchos. All the night activities are inside anyway

    How many hrs of study?

science subjects - for each hour in class, I spend another 2 hours outside class doing work (but that may be research/reading/assignmenting rather than 'study') arts subjects - for each hour in class, another 3 or so doing work (mostly reading because I do english classes which require a novel...
