is Actuarial Studies really that boring??

if you look carefully, the first part here consists of CT1 to CT8, 2nd part is about 2 courses and the 3rd part is 3.5 exams.. adds up to 13. Suggest you do some research before concluding which place has more demanding exams, download a past/sample paper...

is Actuarial Studies really that boring??

the 3 parts here are same as the 10+ exams in US in terms of length.. I don't know where you got the 400k figure from.. have a look at this: Actuary Salary Survey - actuary jobs - D.W. Simpson & Company, Inc. , actuarial, actuaries, Employment, Salaries, Insurance, Statistics, Mathematics...

is Actuarial Studies really that boring??

So how much do you think they make?

is Actuarial Studies really that boring??

The reason is: actuarial degrees here are under b.commerce people who go into b.commerce in general poo poo mathematics Actuarial studies teaches alot of mathematics most people doing the degree find it boring

    intergration

    You could also do this one and some other similar ones by: 1/(sin[x]-cos[x]) = 1/sqrt(2) * 1/ {sin[x]/sqrt(2)-cos[x]/sqrt(2)} = 1/sqrt(2) * 1/ {sin[x]cos[pi/4]-cos[x]sin[pi/4]} = 1/sqrt(2) * 1/sin[x - pi/4] = cosec[x-pi/4]/sqrt(2) then if you remember, you will know that the integral of...

    The Cambridge Book

They are hard in the right way.. I think I would describe it as having "good taste", where they are motivated by deeper mathematics and not just making one do relatively easy but tedious manipulations

    Probability Question

suppose we change 400 and 55 to 1... how would you answer the question now.. then you will see how ridiculous it is.

What will i need for 97+

some mid nineties.. especially the top 4... you can get away with lower marks for ext and english

    Probability Question

they probably want you to answer along the lines, 55/400 = 154/(154+S) and then find S.. it's not quite the correct way to do it.. a thorough analysis would require some heavy mathematics (to approximate terms) and some computing power

    Your feelings towards internationals.

I bet the course/lecturer didn't specify that each part is to be done separate person. It will be quite hard for the university to justify this practice of essentially giving out four individual assignments and then transfering marks from better pieces to worse ones by averaging

    Your feelings towards internationals.

I hope you understand what I meant by selection bias. There are probably quite a few international students whom you do not identify as such because their English is fine. I am not saying that one would miss all of them, but they are more likely to be overlooked than say one whose English is poor.

    Your feelings towards internationals.

Experiences similar to this one suffer selection bias -> those who speak perfect english would not be recognised as an international student. And just a hint.. at uni, splitting a group assignment into individual parts and expecting each part to be perfect is usually not a good approach. People...

    Complex Locus

semicircle centered at (0,0) with radius 1 in the upper half of the plane. "geometric method" : Arg[(z-1)/(z+1)] = pi/2 so Arg(z-1) - Arg(z+1) = pi/2 so the angle in between the line from 1 to z and the line from -1 to z is pi/2 so it's a circle, but the direction forces it to be in the upper...

Conics: equation of chord proof (need help please)

LHS to middle.. it's a trig identity.. look up something along the lines of sums to products Mid to RHS.. hmm you should be able to see this.

Domain and Range of Inverse Function

For that expression to make sense, sqrt((1/4)-x2) must be between -1 and 1 (so you can take inverse cosines) this means that (1/4)-x2 should be between 0 and 1, which means that x must lie between -1/2 and 1/2.. and and all values in between are fine, so the domain is [-1/2,1/2] To find...

Accepting uni offers - stressing out bad

talk to the university... usually works.. tell them you are trying to get finances in place. you probably have to get it arranged before mid march.. I suppose that is when you old visa expires

Accepting uni offers - stressing out bad

accept it now.. you don't have to pay until later... unless there's some visa issue... I am sure whichever uni it is... they will be willing to make some arrangements

Why doesn't BOS release raw marks?

because of the potential embarrassment from revealing how much grades are inflated by. We all know that a 70% HSC mark is probably less than 50% raw.. according to my hunch, to estimate your raw mark, subtract your HSC mark from 100, double that and subtract from 100 again That is...
