    Raw Marks Thread

Do you think I should call up UAC to investigate it further? I beat him in 2 subjects (by 1 mark in Adv. English and 2 marks in MX2), and same marks in MX1, Chemistry and Physics. I must admit it still seems pretty dodgy to me, even with the slight rounding, because I got a LOWER atar, not an...

    Raw Marks Thread

It can actually matter. I did the same subjects as my friend, and either beat or equaled him in all our HSC marks. But he got a higher ATAR than me. So when I called up UAC (and waited like 10 minutes), they said that BOS gives them the HSC marks to decimal places, not just to the nearest...

kiwi703's raw marks - english, physics and economics

Congrats! Mirin your economics and physics marks. How come the aligning is so bad? Your raw marks were so high! Your English mark was still heaps good, even though you got dragged down by creative.

    HSC Top Notes study guides

You really don't need to buy books for English. I found Top Notes completely useless, and regret buying it. Also remember that the best analysis is often original.

    Preparing for English Papers 1 & 2

So how long before do you recommend starting to memorise my essays/creatives?

    Preparing for English Papers 1 & 2

I know that Papers 1 & 2 are set on back-to-back days in both the Trials and external HSC for Advanced English. How did you guys memorise 4 essays + 1 creative (and possible more) at once?

Do what you like and are good at. That way you'll maximise your chances of being successful.

    Related text help

Haha, sorry I haven't read Romulus, My Father. I would recommend doing some research, and continue asking others for their opinions. That being said, the best related texts are often the most original. However, in the end, it all comes down to the quality of your analysis and how well you link...

What is you favorite kind of pizza?

    Related text help

I forget to add: you shouldn't use a related text that's of the same textual form as your prescribed. For example, since Romulus, My Father, is a non-fiction, you shouldn't use another non-fiction text.

    Laptop or Book?

Using a laptop can be useful if used properly (i.e. you don't get distracted and play games). For English, I found that writing my initial ideas and drafts out on paper to be helpful, just to keep my mind flowing. For my later versions and edits for essays/creatives, typing on a laptop allowed...

    Physics, chemistry and biology together.

I found that Physics required the most rote-learning and memorization, especially in Ideas to Implementation and Quanta to Quarks. Chemistry allowed for progressive understanding of scientific concepts, although Industrial Chemistry did involve a lot of memorizing. Didn't do Biology.

    Not understanding Atar marks?

You must remember your ATAR is a ranking, NOT an average mark.

    ATAR Raw Mark/Cut-off Band Database!

Wait, does that mean some sections of the paper could be worth more than others, due to aligning?

    Study Buddy Program!

This sounds like a good idea, although you can just use a real-life friend as a study-buddy

    Physics, chemistry and biology together.

The workload shouldn't be much more difficult than other subject combinations. Just ensure you are up-to-date with your syllabus notes, and are constantly revising them.
