HSC 2012-14 MX2 Integration Marathon (archive)

Re: MX2 Integration Marathon I did this question a couple days ago and got I(n)=[e^x*sin^n(x)-ne^x*sin^(n-1)(x)cos(x)+n(n-1)I(n-2)]/[n^2+1] for the first part.

HSC 2012-14 MX2 Integration Marathon (archive)

Decided to make this thread so we can all be exposed to the more difficult integration problems (and for the fun of it of course). First 2 questions: integral of [sqrt(1+sin(2x))] dx integral of sqrt[tan(x)] dx

    Australian Maths Competition 2012 Thoughts

I personally reckon I didn't do well, didn't have any sense for time either (spent so much time just sitting there thinking it will end any second now lol). Hadn't done it for like 2 years prior however. Hoping for much better next year.

    Australian Maths Competition 2012 Thoughts

lol, all you had to do was apply the pythagorean theorem Let the sides be 2, 2a, 2a^2 (2a^2)^2=(2a)^2+2^2 4a^4=4a^2+4 a^4-a^2-1=0 a^2=[1+sqrt(5)]/2 Hence, hypotenuse=2a^2=1+sqrt(5)

    Physics Marathon 2012

Feel like taking part even though I'm not in year 12, also would like an analysis of my answers Q2) All objects of mass (matter) in the universe possess a gravitational field would cause other objects of mass to be attracted towards it. By Newton's Universal Law of Gravitation, the force...

If an electron enters an electric and magnetic field and is not deflected by the two fields, determine: a) What can be said about the forces on the electron b) What are the direction of the electric and magnetic fields that produce a result such as in part a) c) If the electric field has a...

    HSC 2012 MX1 Marathon #2 (archive)

Re: HSC 2012 Marathon :) Define the proposition P(k): f is k times differentiable at 0 with f^(k)(0)=0 for all natural (where 0 is included) If k=0: It is clear that f is 0 times differentiable at x=0 since a cusp occurs. f^(0)(0)=f(0)=0 Hence, P(0) holds. I think if you continue the inductive...
