    How are marks actually calculated?

So if 75 is the raw mark for the band 6 cut off, then that can be scaled to what approximately?

Help with study notes for Wensday exam ? English Paper 2

Yes I am focusing on quotes/ techniques, and probably reading my generic essays. I may try also noting down a plan for some practice questions too. I thought I would try memorising an essay then molding it, but I don't think that is a good idea considering they can ask something completely...

The logic behind having rank orders and internal marks affect your hsc..

So, what did our schools send to BOS then? Does the ranks they sent only include the trials rank, or everything you have done? Because I came consistently 4th in English Adv, but during trials I went down some ranks. Does that mean my school only sent trial ranks? And if so, how is that fair...

General Thoughts: English Paper 1 (AOS)

Me too, I didn't really get the whole time thing.

    A question about questions :S

^LOL @ paper 2. And thanks nikfeh, that is what I attempted to do. :) Because I don't want to be writing and thinking ''Oh I don't actually agree with this, or it doesn't really fit'' I mean I backed up what I was saying... I just hope it's good enough... Also, for our modules in paper...

    HSC and its Multiple Problems

I agree with this article. I hate thought that is unlikely things will change much... I want to say we should do something about it, but heck, what will happen anyway?

    A question about questions :S

Okay, so with todays essay question, I was just wondering how I approach other questions that are similar (for english). What I mean is, if the question sounds like a statement, I sort of feel like it is true (depending how the question is worded) and so it is difficult for me to manipulate the...

help jst skipped entire section of exam

what about EVERYTHING together? As in, I know externals are worth 50%, but since I am crap at maths, what does that make 10 units worth? or 11 or 12 units? Like would one exam paper not be worth that much then because you need to divide everything?
  9. Cheesecake_a

How many pages did you write for each section?

Why have a lot of people written so much for section one lol? I wrote one whole booklet section 1 2 booklets section 2 and 3

General Thoughts: English Paper 1 (AOS)

Re: AOS Paper Ahh Doctor Who is perfect for this! Anywho, Section One was so boring lol, but it wasn't too bad I guess. I didn't like that poem, to me it was written badly. =/ Section Two I was scared when I first saw it because the whole concept of time got me a bit worried, but then I...

Who's shitting bricks for english???????PLEASE HELP

    stimulus creative question

Is that the same as ''drawing on these ideas'' ? And also, if it asks to use the stimulus (if it is a quote) then can we use it anywhere throughout? Like it doesn't have to be at the beginning?

If they ask ''two or more related texts''...

Ah okay, thank you for the answers. I think I may need to think of a book or movie I know pretty well and use that, because I don't want to start something completely new...

If they ask ''two or more related texts''...

Btw is using another prescribed text from another module frowned upon? Like if I used The Great Gatsby for instance?
  16. Cheesecake_a

If they ask ''two or more related texts''...

Yes. I know there are subjects that are quite easy to get away with, such as Society and Culture, where the PIP component can be quite simple to make up people in your secondary research such as people you supposedly ''interviewed'' etc. I just thought English was quite the same in terms of...

    HSC Motivation!!!

What is his race? I am quite sure they are not racist.
  18. Cheesecake_a

If they ask ''two or more related texts''...

Yeah that is true. But I mean there is enough I think, because some stimulus is a page and a bit. But then again, it might look as if the student does not do wide reading etc... If this question does arise, should there be equal amounts of all three texts? Because if you have two related...
  19. Cheesecake_a

If they ask ''two or more related texts''...

True... but people actually make their related up? Really? Then that means many would get away with it...

If they ask ''two or more related texts''...

I heard markers often have computers with them (because not all markers know everything) and search for things that sound unfamiliar to clarify. Well, I have heard this for Modern History, since many make up Historians. But my other question, is it frowned upon if one uses the stimulus?
