Post Trials / Current Trials discussion thread for Business Studies

if everyone uploaded their trials, I think we'd have a nice collection of practise papers for the HSC. unfortunately, our school did CSSA, and I believe it's illegal to upload CSSA papers. Having said that, the ER sections were fairly generic I felt. here are some of the noteworthy (imo)...

Difference between Pricing stategies and methods

well, hopefully you have a set of notes by now, the only way to know the difference is to memorise what each is. in my mind, the difference between the two is as follows: pricing strategies deal with the WHY you set a certain price. because it's strategy. do you want to rip off people as much...

Any current Talent-100 tutorees for 2u/3u?

Quick question, I read on the Talent-100 website about their online portal, and their bank of videos. Do the videos cover the entire syllabus? Are the videos any good (i.e. detailed and clear)?

    Question - Help

perhaps a mod can move that question into a thread of its own?

    For The Permutation Lovers

As always with restrictions questions, we will deal with the restrictions first: the 3 gals on the bow side: 4 places for the first chick, 3 places for the second, 2 places for the last. i.e. 4 x 3 x 2 the 2 gals on the other side: 4 places for the first chick, 3 places for the second...

    Perms and Combs

lol yeah, basically the same thing. if you want a good revision, check out the old coroneos (and I mean like, the REALLY old coroneos one, the one for the previous syllabus) revision set. someone has scanned the book, google up "coroneos filetype:pdf" and it'll be a few entries down. or...

    Year 12 Extension 1 Cut-Off

well, from BOSTES's side, there's no such restriction. but like the guy above said - it really depends on your school. sounds as if the teachers at your school have decided that anyone not getting 75% in 3u exams in prelim course doesn't have the motivation or talent to attempt the 4u course...

    Perms and Combs

Ah, at least I know I got the question right :) I'm 99.93% sure you won't face a question of this level in a 3u exam. I base that on the fact that, after searching ~1515 OCR'd 3u trials, I've come across only 1 other question similar to this- james ruse 3u 2003 trial, q7. tbh, i wouldn't use...

    How to Use other Textbooks

yeah, do 1 textbook, there's really no reason to be doing multiple textbooks :O 1 textbook followed by multiple past papers. Start as soon as you've finished 1 topic. Hunt through past papers, find questions on the topic you've finished, screenshot the relevant question and paste into a word...

    Perms and Combs

Can I please know where that question is from?

    Perms and Combs

Explanation: 6 consonants - 6! / 2! Self explanatory Vowels have to be separated by at least 1 consonant. (BTW, seems as if you're mistaking "separated by 1 vowel" with "separated by AT LEAST 1 vowel". at least means separation by 2 [or more] is fine too. So it's possible to have: VCVCCVCVCCV)...

    Combination

nah, read the stars and stripes method above. http://community.boredofstudies.org/14/mathematics-extension-2/384865/combination.html#post7294912 and b for fan96 question - just place 1 ring on each finger before you even start the question - since the rings are all identical, it doesn't matter...

    Good 5.3 Math textbook

the key isn't doing lots of questions, it's doing questions for chapters you've already finished as an on-going process throughout the year :-) new century maths is good cambridge is also good, but it jumps into harder questions super quickly, and contains heaps and heaps of worded questions...

    Is Business studies worth doing?

protip- no such thing as a "good memory". at least not for the vast majority of students. it's simply hard work over long period of time. the question is more: are you going to try to cram absolutely everything the night before the exam? If so, don't do business. It's the equivalent of trying...

    i) 12C8 ii) 6C4 x 6C4 iii) 4!3! / 7! Draw a circle with 8 spots. We 'fix' in 1 boy. 3 boys left. Now, we're going to place the boys making sure to leave a seat empty between each boy. 3 boys can go in 1st of those seats, 2 in the second, 1 in the last. Now we will fill in the blanks with the...
