This is very helpful, thank you so much

I don’t think it’ll be Haber since they already asked it, maybe Contact process and asking you to discuss the effect of each reaction

What have you memorised for those? I did biodiesel and bioethanol. I don’t know to what extent they’re gonna test it though, like I memorised transesterification of biodiesel but feel it’ll make my answer too convoluted, so might just mention it briefly. The sociocultural impacts stumped me...

HSC Chemistry Exam Solutions / Thoughts

Agreed. Probably like the Haber process question in the sample questions. I feel this test is more testing analytical skills and critical thinking. So I reckon they’ll provide the info and we’ll have to make a judgement based on that.

Do you think it’s a good idea to leave the two 7-9 markers to the end and finish the rest of the paper first? What would you have done? Thanks, Jazz

    Oh right makes sense 😂

Wait haha what. I didn’t realise this was Jazz’s thread, my goodness I’m clumsy. Sorry for the confusion

    Mathematics Extension 1 Exam Predictions/Thoughts

How many marks you guys reckon I’d lose for accidentally finding the primitive of the integral to be tan inverse instead of log, but still continued through to evaluate it?
  9. Arrowshaft

    Mathematics Extension 1 Exam Predictions/Thoughts

Maybe you’ll get 2/3 because even though it was wrong, you still continued through and found the result if it WERE what the question asked

Yeah that’s what I was thinking. I didn’t want to say anything because more than one person agreed with the same method. Thanks for clearing it up.

    this mass defect question

Since the daughter nuclides are more stable, the SUM of both of their binding energy must be greater than uranium’s, as the only reason it underwent radioactive decay was to become more stable, thus have a stronger net binding.

HSC Chemistry Exam Solutions / Thoughts

You reckon that they’ll most likely opt for questions not similar to the ones in the sample questions? Because there’s a variety from there, so I don’t know how exclusive they could be.

HSC Chemistry Exam Solutions / Thoughts

I will definitely send them through if I manage to obtain them. Also Jazz already made a thread on this lol 😂. So should we move the conversation there?

HSC Chemistry Exam Solutions / Thoughts

9 marker on analysis techniques for organic compounds? Possibly asking you to compare the techniques (which would be the easiest to answer) or they’d give you multiple graphs such as H NMR, C NMR, IR and mass spec and ask you to find out the possible substances

    Mathematics Extension 1 Exam Predictions/Thoughts

    I doubt it’d be a 71 raw, 71 went to an 89 in 2018, and it definitely wasn’t harder than 2018 imo.

    Mathematics Extension 1 Exam Predictions/Thoughts

    That should be e4 then
