What HSC mark are we aiming for though?

I didn’t have enough space to state the reactions so I just said AlCl3 and BF3 act as acids or something but don’t have a hydrogen atom so can’t be explained by BL theory. I just stopped at the minimum amount of equations they asked so I just included the ammonium chloride

That’s easy 90 mate. Considering how usually 7% of the state gets a band 6 and most chemistry students don’t do higher level maths, also considering this is Board of Studies lol, you’ll get that band 6. I’m sure youre top 7%

No examples at all? Not even the ammonium chloride vapours?

Did you guys mention the inability to explain the acidic and basic natures of certain oxides, and AlCl3 and BF3 for the Bronsted-Lowry question?

Nah but on a serious note, you’ll get 0. Jk, you won’t lose any, it’s just the quadratic formula, not like you performed a contour integral of the molecules over a Gaussian surface and then used Stokes’ Theorem to find the meaning of life

You gotta realise. Some chemistry students also do ge.. gen.. genn... genny maths 🤢 🤮

Mate. Don’t trust HSC discussion group for comments about “easiness” 😂. We’ll be alright I’m sure, as for the cut offs, I’m predicting a 80-82 since it is the new syllabus. Also, “everyone” in the state might think the calculations are easy, but as Hithcock said, they by might not’ve been taught...

Quadratic formula lol? That sounds overly complex, you just assume x or whatever the concentration of ions is, is small enough, so the quadratic terms disappears

Haha ikr, screw english. My strongest science subject is probably physics as well :)

What’s your strongest subject for HSC?

Is everyone here done with HSC or not? I still have physics to go :(

I said Ba2+ would be less noticeable tho since it is heavier and slower

HSC Chemistry Exam Solutions / Thoughts

Cl- doesnt contribute much tho, its less mobile and a lot heavier

    That’s aligned, we mean raw

I think it meant the conductometric curve. Seems random to just ask to explain the pH titration curve. Also, the conductometric curve is also a titration curve as the titration is called conductometric titration
