    IB Maths Marathon

Re: International Baccalaureate Marathon OK problem solved if you guys are familiar with the Casio fx-9860G AU, you should leave the fraction to the right and not cross multiply in Solver. $ Don't enter it in the calculator as $ 1.24992(r-1)=1(r^6-1) $ it won't solve it for an unknown...

    IB Maths Marathon

Re: International Baccalaureate Marathon $ Anyway I came across this question tonight and it has me a bit stumped. The first term is 1, sum of the first 6 terms is 1.24992. Find the value of the common ratio if: $ S_n=\frac{u_1(r^n-1)}{r-1} 1.24992=\frac{1(r^6-1)}{r-1} $ I tried...

St. Andrews catherdral school in town hall

I've encountered a couple of St Andrews Catholic College kids in my time as a tutor. One who I tutored in the IB and am currently tutoring General Maths too. I'd consider it to be worth considering as they offer the IB Curriculum as an alternative to the HSC. Judging from the ranking , St...

    HSC 2017 Business Studies Marathon

I'm probably leaning towards (D) just due to the fact that in her role in the company she was doing the ethical thing and reporting a bad action that occurred from within her company to her supervisor. She has every right to be hard done by. (I know that's not the most pleasant explanation but...

Year 9-10 Maths Discussion & Resources

That didn't quite answer my question, does doing Maths Stage 5.2 allow you to do Extension I and Extension II maths in Year 11 and 12? I feel like a hard question in 5.2, is about a medium standard in 5.3.

Year 9-10 Maths Discussion & Resources

Does doing Maths 5.2 in Year 10 at a high level allow a student to go on and do Maths Extension? The 5.2 seems way easier compared to the 5.3

Can i be an engineer if i did general math?

No matter how good the student I don't think 6 weeks to cover a calculus oriented subject is enough. But that's just me.

Can i be an engineer if i did general math?

Having said that I once helped a 29 year old mature age student get back into an Engineering course and a mature age mum wanting to get into Engineering. It can be done but you would need to dedicate time and money into the subject. It took them a good year both of them to get it up to speed to...

Can i be an engineer if i did general math?

Around the end of last year, I said you could do it. But after going through the Maths (Advanced) and Maths Extension books over the last 3 years, I say it's very hard to catch up. It's not a subject that can be covered wholly in a short 6 week course, this is a subject that is learnt over a...

    HSC 2017 Business Studies Marathon

The answer was D but this is the definition from wikipedia: "The Act is the legislative vehicle for competition law in Australia, and seeks to promote competition, fair trading as well as providing protection for consumers." I struggle to link that definition with the question, where the legs...
