    General Mathematics Textbook

My ranking of the HSC General Mathematics text books: 1. Oxford ( best for theory and understanding on concepts). 2. Excel HSC By Lyn Baker (in my opinion this is a highly underrated book- lots of practice questions which are of a similar standard to Exams and tests) 3. Cambridge 4. New Century...

    Geogebra

I had a look at the New Century Year 7 and 8 books, they introduced Geogebra early into high school, in their books. I don't want to endorse New Century but the fact that they did that means they are 'thinking ahead' and makes the book a better product. I thought it was only introduced mainly...

Accepting presents, gifts, invitations from Parents

Questions for tutors out there, do you accept presents, gifts , invites to events, from parents that you tutor? Must admit I have had some wonderful gifts in my time as tutor. One family feeds me everytime I tutor their son (x 3 times a week), one family provides a cup of hot green tea...

differentiation of exponential functions question, please help

    $ I assume the question to be in the form $ f(x)=\frac{a}{2}(\frac{e^x}{a}+\frac{e^{-x}}{a}) f'(x) =\frac{a}{2} (\frac{e^x}{a}-\frac{e^{-x}}{a}) f'(a)=\frac{a}{2}(\frac{e^a}{a}-\frac{1}{ae^a} =\frac{1}{2}(e^a-\frac{1}{e^a})

    Calling anyone from MLC School

Im just curious , I bumped into a high school student from MLC School the other day and am a bit confused how the transition works from Year 7-10 to 11-12. I am aware that your school offers both the IB and HSC in Year 11 and 12. I was having a look at these links...

    Geogebra

I also say if your considering doing any sort of Extension maths in Years 11 & 12, using Geogebra earlier (probably around Year 7 or 8 ) in high school is better. I must admit when I studied Maths Extension in 2014-2016 , I was drawing circles up with a compass. (sometimes I used a 20 cent coin...

    How will uni be like?

If your talking about postgraduate university studies, generally speaking, everyone wants to get to know everyone. (Just from my experience) I feel like when you get to undergraduate 1st year, it was a case of 'bettering your standards/bettering your network'. High school, socioeconomic status...

    Age Difference

I've always felt the rule within under or over 5 years of your age is OK. I think if you get past 25, you generally think like that. If your a school leaver, you would be thinking under/over 2 years gap IMO.

    How will uni be like?

I agree with the social cliques. Coming from a weaker school or lower ranked school, I tended to find the kids at the top tier schools tended to hang around each other. (There was a certain snobbery or elitism ) From 2nd year onwards, you were all in it together, people didn't ask the question...

    How will uni be like?

    That is seriously harsh.

    How will uni be like?

Yes you will. It's not as bad as people make it out to be. I found in a university environment especially from 2nd years onwards, you wanted to do well together. In first year, people were still trying to figure other people out.

    Geogebra

The poll figure so far have been interesting, I honestly thought the Geogebra was a bit of a hit and giggle. But it seems , keen students which I assume most on BoredofStudies are, shows to me that probably over half of the state is using it.(I'm estimating a fair figure would be about 70%) I...

Ranks these uni's for Commerce and Economics.

Well its just my experience but WSU or UWS students that I've bumped into have been pretty hard working. I've been to the UWS campuses in Parramatta, Campbelltown and Bankstown. Will say that Bankstown mucked around a lot especially in the library there, but there are some real good students...
