Sorry, 'forced' was the wrong choice of word. The question meant to ask if subjects continued onto the following year. I'm guessing they do. If so, does that mean that the subjects I pick in my first year will be the exact subjects I complete in my final year?

Besides HSC study guides, I own and refer to Olmstead's Persian Empire, Pierre Briant's From Cyrus to Alexander, M.A Dandemaev 'Political history of the Persian Empire'. Although these are pretty expensive. Each have extremely detailed source indexes, so its easy to find anything you're looking for.
