    HSC 2012-2015 Chemistry Marathon (archive)

re: HSC Chemistry Marathon Archive Yes. What do you think would happen if you used something for the salt bridge that reacted with the half cells?

re: HSC Chemistry Marathon Archive You need to be more specific, what do you mean low concentration of ethanol? Where?

    HSC 2012-2015 Chemistry Marathon (archive)

re: HSC Chemistry Marathon Archive You should make sure you do the same for just water, you need it as a control.

USYD: Scaling of First Year Maths Units

If you have the choice, do the highest level you can, regardless of scaling. First year doesn't count to SCIWAM. Really, only consider a lower unit if you are trying to transfer somewhere.

    HSC 2015 Chemistry Q&A Thread

I find chemistry to be absurdly easy, if you ask me. The concepts in HSC are based on basic maths and there's really not much more.

    Phys1003

There isn't second year maths in it but that would help. I did MATH1902 and I'd say it destroys second year chemistry in terms of difficulty (ie much harder).

    doing cssa trials

Personally, I think their trials aren't difficult enough and have poorly made marking schemes and mediocre sample answers. Typically, their samples are band 5 level, at best. Sent from my A0001 using Tapatalk

    Combined med interviews?

Based on the agree I read last year or the year before, you need 75 average to keep the scholarship and 65 average to have a guaranteed place in medicine.

    Help with monitoring combustion reactions

That's fair enough, it does happen that our explanations can go a bit off when we try to push some point. Anyway, I would never require you to trust me simply because I am more experienced, it's definitely more important to be able to read someone else's response(s) and determine whether it's...

    Help with monitoring combustion reactions

Not gonna lie, YunLi has given has poor advice here. Pretty standard for HSC chemistry and soot is definitely valid given the context because we're talking about combustion so significant amounts of soot can be released in a fair small area so it must be monitored. You lose marks by not...

    Combined med interviews?

I heard it was really relaxed and a group interview but I didn't take it myself so I can't guarantee that - I do lots of friends that are in combined now, though - if that counts.

Does anyone in here go to Alexandria Park Community School?

I used to go to APCS, back in 2007-2008 (ie 2012 cohort). It's a decent school but the non-selective classes are horrible, the selective class can be pretty good but in my year, a few of them left (including me, to Penrith). I can say that the 2012 cohort (selective only) was probably better...

    Subject Reviews (with PDF compilation)

Friend's reviews... CHEM2912 Ease: 6 This rating is inflated by how easy I found the final exam to be. Content was definitely the hardest of any course I have done so far. I felt it was made harder due to the way it was taught and things could have been explained better. It was also hard to...
