Social effects of getting a 99+ atar?

I would say the average person is impressed by anything 90+, anything beyond that reduces the amount of people who can discern between a 99 and a 95 student etc . However in answer to your question, real friends wouldn't care what your atar is and beyond the initial "oh wow" reaction and...

    Arts and HSC results

I've always thought we should have a set of core subjects each year and be allowed to enrol in certain courses depending on our own interests, basically a uni-ish system starting from a certain year (say year 7) and ending in a final year (I would recommend year 10). We'd only be marked on 1...

HSC Inspiration - Your School Rank Doesn't Matter

For the curious I took a good mix of legal, Eco, maths 2u and 3u, physics, music and English advanced. Hope that also helps with the myth that you can't do well on 13 units. Just put in the effort and love the subjects you do! :)

HSC Inspiration - Your School Rank Doesn't Matter

Hey everyone, so now that the HSC results and ATARs have been released i can, with confidence, dispel the myth that school rank matters. I went to a school that (going by todays ranks) was ranked in the 560s but managed to achieve a 97.7 ATAR. I know the standards on this forum are fairly...

    Quick Question !

yes you can apply at a different uni provided you meet the requirements for that postgrad course (for example if it's a masters degree in a certain field you generally have to have an undergrad qualification that contains evidence you have knowledge required to complete that masters degree)

    14 more days.

not anxious at all. Actually kind of disappointed it took me 13 years to reach these exams. Primary/secondary education is so slow... only need 91 for my course so i should be fine (although i'd rather learn it all on my own time, university is just a formality)

How did you find your job?

i got my job at the end of year 9 so there's a chance they hired me for the cheaper wage but still, i just handed in an application and they called me for an interview about a month later. Keep in mind that major retailers usually hire their staff in groups at specific points throughout the...

    Casual Employment in Senior School

i vote get a job, had one since the end of year 9 and it's always kept me sane since i find splitting your life 3 ways into school, social and work keeps you more accountable for all 3.

    Calculating g with pendulum

an angle too large will introduce experimental error since the string will start to experience tension. keeping the angle small ensures gravity is the only force acting

Teacher rounded mark for rank. Is it okay

official ranks come out tomorrow, you should wait to see them because there's a chance you're teacher reported the rounded marks to you but sent exact marks to BOS

    Am I cold hearted?

OP needs some empathy. There's more to life than gaining a university place, something the bushfire victims would have already learnt.

    14 units for HSC

I took 13 units into the HSC and didn't find it bad at all. The only downside was i had to sit the extra tests my friends on 10 units didn't have so exam periods felt a bit tedious. Throughout the year though i found myself studying smarter than i think i would have if i only had 10 units, guess...
