    Section II - Ancient Societies

The 15 marker surprised me, but it was so broad that answering the Sparta question was really simple. The other three were simple outline, describe questions Using Source something (it was about lending dogs for the purpose of hunting) and other sources, what does the evidence tell us about...

Section I - Core (Pompeii and Herculaneum)

+1 I finished it in twenty seven minutes, I was thinking there had to be another page or something.... Loved it.

    Goooood luuuuuuck Ancient Kids!

Good Luck Everyone.:hug2: Stay calm, write what you know, answer the questions, don't forget about historiography and please don't walk out early. Ancient doesn't deserve that. And remember once we finish the exam will be history.

Sparta: Role of the Spartan army

He had an army of 300 Spartans and 700 Thespians (people always forget these poor bastards) at Thermopylae.

    Greek world 500-440 B.C

Easy. This was my trial question and I got 24/25 for it. In summary: -Reaffirmed position as best warriors in Greece Eternal glory for Thermopylae, Plataea -Caused severe decline in numbers, loss of king as casualties hence became even more insular, reluctant to pursue war beyond own boundaries...

    General Thoughts: SOR I

Re: General Thoughts: Studies of Religion I I was satisfied with what I wrote, the essay question was something different, but I'm confident in my response, so all should be good. An hour and a half really flies by. The first question of the multiple choice -.- Who write these things? I...

    Greek world 500-440 B.C

You'd have to. What is it transforming from?
  8. Galladrim

Personality: How much is acceptable for A.

As above, I aim for 2 pages and 4 pages respectively, as that's really the most I can write in that time period. Just nail the question and the marks flow :)
  9. Galladrim

am i in for some trouble?

Your response gives yourself credit, but you should be fine. It's just a sentence.
  10. Galladrim

Anyone else completely losing focus and going crazy?!

I feel flat as well. It happens, and that's fine. But I know I can get over it. To horribly misquote some very clever person; Its not about how many times you fall over. It's about how many times you get back up. I try to think of all the achievements I've had thus far in a positive sense...

    Integrated Response for SOR?

It should be an integrated response. If its not that's fine, just cram it full of detail.

Class of 2012: Roll Call Ext 2 Eng

Good Luck guys. You're going to find Ext II somewhat different from the rest of your courses ;) Have Fun!

    Are you ready for SOR??

Yes. Feeling pretty confident. One Unit FTW!

How important is it to have quotes?

This. If you want a band 6, you have to include sustained references to historiography. Simple as that.

    ancient his EXAM PREDICTIONS

I'll try  I saw an interesting trial question today. (Greek World) "To what extent were the Allies responsible for the changes in the Delian League that took place during this period" Be nice to have something like this; a bit different.

ITT: People who actually liked english

My English teachers helped me to appreciate the subject rather than just learn it, because they actually cared themselves. Their passion just rubbed off on me, and they were always going out of their way to help, no matter how busy they were. Fanatically devoted and awesome people

    General Thoughts: Mathematics

Pretty happy, went better than I thought I would. Thankfully its all over. Never have to do Mathematics again!!!!!
  18. Galladrim

    English Ext 1, October 31st

No they can't specify a text. That goes against the whole of Extension as opposed to Advanced. It's meant to allow you more scope and freedom to answer the question in the manner that you see fit. More conceptual engagement than spewing out techniques.

How important is it to have quotes?

You shouldn't have to remember quotes verbatim and spill them out during the exam, it takes far too long. Paraphrase what they say. You can simply say "according to Herodotus" or "Plutarch observed"

    What the eff

Just prepare all three. If its one area talk about one If its two areas talk about two. You get the idea...
