how do you work out the direction of an eddy current? =/

I have a trick, since the moving magnet will induce a current and magnetic field which oppose's the original change in magnetic flux. It is almost like in the picture bellow, the conductor acting as a south pole (because south and south repel). From this we can draw an S on the end of the coil...

    The NSW DET filter

99% if the time a proxy won't work, the only one where you can possibly get a result is through the google proxy: http://www.google.com/xhtml I used a proxy (at the time) beanonymous.org.. It was blocked the next day. Remote Desktop will not work either, this is because; a) Popular things...

    motor effect

What do you mean "how would you turn this motor into AC current"? That would be a generator. If you wanted the motor to RUN OFF AC current, you would have to use slip ring communtators rather than split ring.

    motors and generators question

All you need to know is from under the dot point: 4.2.7 discuss the impact of the development of transformers on society Before transformers, power stations were located inside cities Transformers allow voltages to be transmitted over long distances ŸPower losses reduced--> cheaper ŸAllows for...

    Physics Question

Power stations are usually situated large distances from cities where most of the consumers are located. This presents problems with power lossesin the transmission lines. Transmission lines are essentially long metallic conductors which have significant resistance. This means that they have...

    Differentiating logarithms help

Remember that ln and e 'undo' each other. ln (x) = 1 \therefore ln(e) = 1 It is just a memory thing that ln and e undo each other. Applying this: When you have y' = (1 - lnx) / x^2 You should focus on making the top 0. Regardless of what is on the bottom, if the top = 0 the whole fraction...

    2 unit maths revision

Oh haha xD I thought we were skipping it :P Dam not lucky enough: x + ln(x+1) + c Question: Use Simpson's rule to find an approximation for: \int_{0}^{4} (x^3 + x)dx Using 5 ordinates.

    2 unit maths revision

    RHS: = 1+\frac{1}{x+1} = \frac{x + 1}{x+1} + \frac{1}{x + 1} = \frac{x + 2}{x+1} \therefore = RHS Question: Use Simpson's rule to find an approximation for: \int_{0}^{4} (x^3 + x)dx Using 4 ordinates.

Why does an Iron core intensifies the magnetic flux ?

Feeling a bit backwards? xD As he said, the core which provides a path for the magnetic lines of flux. Some further reading for you:

Why does an Iron core intensifies the magnetic flux ?

I think it is because the iron core acts as an electromagnet. Don't quote me though, I just read through the text book a bit and it said things like that but not in a transformer. You are right about Lenz's law, however the iron core has lamination sheets to reduce the size of eddy currents...

    chemistry of dry cell

    In a dry cell: From ANOX REDCAT: Oxidation takes place at the anode: Zn(s) + 2OH- --> ZnO(s) + H2O + 2e- (- is valency) Reduction takes place at the cathode: 2MnO2(s) + H20 + 2e- --> Mn2O3 (s) + 2OH- The reductant is usually the MOST reactive metal.

The World Communicates Progress Assignment HELP Physics

If the aim of the assignment is what the title suggests, you should be asking your teacher for help or discussing it in class. Because if you can't answer them then there is no use pretending you can and then forgetting about them, they will most likely come back and bite you. Also, if the...
