Help with HSC and ATAR :)

Yes, those are good subjects for a high ATAR, as long as you do well in them. It's not necessarily the subject choices, but your marks in the HSC which determine your ATAR. Although scaling does affect your ATAR positively if you do well :)

Adv. English! Song that relates to change?

A song is fine as long as you're sure you will have enough material to write about, and are able to write a good extended response relating the two texts to your AOS. A song is essentially poetry, so there is nothing wrong with that. Note: The two texts don't necessarily have to be...

Adv. English! Song that relates to change?

Has to relate as in common themes/values? IMO could do anything which relates to self change because you can generally find common themes between any texts. (as long as its not BEP or anything :P) Good songs for lyrics are: Hotel California - eagles (could say it's metaphorical) alive-...

Do your year 11 marks affect your UAI?

» Karate or Kickboxing for self defense ?

I'd like to see you try to fight the guys in our dojo then. Karate is focused on fitness, self control, and technique as the core of the style, wheras you get to do sparring, and kumite which builds up your speed, strength and co-ordination. If you've practiced the katas and kumite, you're...

    How to improve in Mathematics?!

Practice practice practice. I've pretty much always been 'good' at mathematics - since primary school - but the concepts used in maths can be understood if you take the time to use them. Once you build up the basics (basic algebra, rearranging) you build upon this as you continue the course...

Help! Equation of a Straight line.

^^^Most of the previous posters are douchebags. Maybe revise over a textbook for this area if you don't understand it. The basic formula for a straight line is y= mx + b where m is the gradient, which can be calculated as (y2-y1)divided by (x2-x1) or rise over run b is the intercept...

my 3U teacher is effective than maths online

It's helpful to go over something if you don't understand it properly after the lesson or from e.g's in textbooks.

common themes/ideas in orwells animal farm and shakespeares as you like it?

Both texts have a common theme of 'power' and its consequences. In animal farm the pigs illegitimately gain the power by cheating and using false propaganda, Also in shakespeare's as you like it. Power is used for personal benefit.

Tony Abbott breaks election promise BEFORE election

Women's virginity 'a precious gift', says Opposition Leader Tony Abbott | Herald Sun haha lol. Tony Abbott CANNOT be prime minister of Australia. Don't even know why hes the leader of a political party

Tony Abbott breaks election promise BEFORE election

Those who believe that Tony Abbot could be the prime minister of Australia are almost as crazy.

    anyone do these HSC subjects?

Scaling doesn't really matter in the scheme of things. Whatever you're good at, do.
  15. D

how do you achieve band 6's in the school certificate?

Just listen in class and ask questions when you don't understand something. Don't really need to study unless you're stuck on something. But, about 2 weeks before SC just look over your book for the year. All thats needed :)
  16. D

any point to studying hard in year11?

"Burning out" makes no sense. If you study subjects you enjoy, you aren't going to suddenly 'die' because you're studying.

    Careers in Chem/ Bio

You've got extension maths as well, so maybe Biochemical Engineering If such a degree exists

    Prelim course effect on ATAR

Note the brackets in my post - For some subjects the content is 30% from year 11. I included that for a reason  I'm treating year 11 as a practice year for HSC, but I still bludge a bit :P

    IRP - Music video review.

Yeah, it should work - although its really hard to critically analyse a BEP song - there's not much to analyse
